Revolution can be a messy thing and in Fable III, you'll be a part of it. Lionhead's third installment to the Fable franchise will put players in the shoes of a king. It it's not going to be easy, acting as ruler of the world of Albion. As you can tell from the cinematic Fable III launch trailer, the road to kingship will be an uphill fight. But if you want to bring benevolence or malevolence to your kingdom, you're going to have to work for it.
Fable III isn't going to all be about ruling the kingdom, there are a lot of little things in the mix of gameplay as you develop your character, like extensive housing customization, crossdressing, and making friends through the power of touch. However, getting to that kind of position looks like it's going to be pretty bloody, just the way any good revolution should be.
With the extent of redesigns and work that has gone into this particular Fable title to make it everything players expect and more, it appears Peter Molyneux and the team at Lionhead truly want to make Fable III special and let you be free in the world. Certainly, people remember that as good as Fable II was, it did have some problems.
The game looks great so far and seems to play well, too. I know for sure, nobody in my kingdom will be going hungry if I have anything to say about it. I am also hoping that cannonballs will be available as a thrown weapon.
With the release of Fable III impending, Lionhead is undoubtedly working overtime to ensure a quality product and to help Peter Molyneux's ambitions be realized, while delivering a good kingdom micromanaging/role playing game experience. I know I'm looking forward to it, what about you?
Fable III ignites the revolution on October 26, 2010 for Xbox 360 with a PC release coming later.
