Ezra Miller was recently arrested Hawaii, and now Warner Bros. has reportedly decided to hit the pause button on its future projects with The Flash star.
In late March, Miller had a violent outburst in Hawaii while under the influence of alcohol, which resulted in an altercation with some people there. The Flash star received a restraining order, and now it seems that due to these actions, his career is on hold at Warner Bros.
According to a Rolling Stone report, there was an emergency meeting with Warner Bros. and DC executives regarding the future of The Flash star. At the meeting held on March 30, executives made the decision to "hit pause on any future projects involving Miller including possible appearances in the DC Cinematic Universe." The report also noted that, according to insiders, production on The Flash was "fraught with drama." Per these sources, Miller would have "frequent meltdowns" during filming and "would get a thought in his head and say, 'I don’t know what I’m doing.'" The report made clear that there were no incidents of yelling or violent outbursts.

The DCEU is unfortunately not holding together like one would've thought. Once Joss Whedon and the execs at Warner Bros. interfered with Zack Snyder's vision, nothing was the same afterwards. Ben Affleck ended up spiraling temporarily, which resulted in him leaving, Henry Cavill seems to have exited as Superman while finding success elsewhere, and Jared Leto ended up ditching the role of the clown at DC for the role of a vampire at Marvel. Now DC may have lost the actor playing The Flash, who was supposedly going to decide the future of the universe.
Miller's The Flash is rumored to reset the DCEU, but there may be a way out. If Warner Bros. actually decides to get a different Flash, then there are many ways this could happen. The Flash can be replaced with an alternate version of the character, or they can even have a timeline erase following the events of the film. This doesn't put DC in the best position, but it's not the worse case scenario either.
This unfortunately adds to the reason why DC should no longer continue working on a shared universe within the DC live-action world. DC, however, isn't loosing by any means, especially when it comes to animated shows, animated movies, or video games. DC may consider starting over or just keeping these movies separated for the near future.
The Flash is set for a June 23, 2023, theatrical release date.
