It might have taken a while to get here, but shooting has finally begun on The Flash movie. One of DC’s highly anticipated films has faced several speed bumps along its way, with many delays ever since its inception. But, director Andy Muschietti has confirmed that the project is, in fact, closer to reality with Monday being the first day on set.

On his official Instagram account, Muschietti celebrated their first day of filming, while revealing the new official logo for The Flash movie. Fans who have been waiting a long time for The Flash's release immediately started expressing their excitement at the news because with the cameras finally rolling, the superhero is bound to arrive sooner than later.

Ezra Miller first appeared as the Scarlet Speedster in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 and was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Since 2016, news of his solo film has been circulating, with fans eagerly awaiting confirmation on its release. It was initially planned for the film to be ready and released in theaters by 2018. But, it faced several delays, mostly because of creative differences between the studio and the crew, which led to many directors leaving the project. Muschietti, along with his sister and the film’s producer, Barbara Muschietti, became a part of The Flash in 2019, but it took two years to finally get the cameras rolling.

Production on the film was teased earlier this year when Barbara shared an image of her brother standing outside one of the sound stages at the Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. The shooting on The Flash was expected to begin in April, with the film expected to have a November 2022 release. The film, which is said to be inspired by the Flashpoint comic book storyline, will see Miller’s Barry Allen attempting to go back in time to stop his mother’s murder, which could have an impact on the world’s timeline.

It has previously been confirmed that Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will be seen reprising their roles as Batman in the film. Keaton will return to the role of Bruce Wayne after almost three decades. He first took on the role of the Caped Crusader in the 1989 Batman movie and returned for the Batman Returns in 1992. Affleck, on the other hand, has donned the Dark Knight’s cape in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and both versions of the Justice League movies. While he was supposed to have a solo Batman film, the project was later canceled.

Apart from the two versions of Batman, The Flash will also see Sasha Calle appearing as Supergirl. However, with the Flash changing the course of time, there’s no telling which other characters from the DC Universe could make an appearance in the film.

The Flash is in production at Warner Bros. and is expected to arrive in theaters on November 4, 2022.
