The Evolution Championship Series, or EVO for short, is currently underway, and even though the main events are slated for Sunday, Saturday night saw its fair share of intense moments. One example was when 9-year-old 2YoC went undefeated in the first round of the Dragon Ball FighterZ tournament, but it definitely didn't end there. In fact, the final match of the aforementioned tournament between Dominique "SonicFox" McLean and Goichi "GO1" Kishia ended on a high note, as the two rivals clearly went all in.

For those not in the know, SonicFox and GO1 faced off last year at EVO 2018 in the final match of the Dragon Ball FighterZ tournament, so seeing these two pros in the final match again in 2019 should come as no surprise. SonixFox won last year, so GO1 was certainly feeling the pressure to not repeat the mistakes of the past, with both players managing to impress in the tournament this year.

Both Dragon Ball FighterZ players managed to come to the final match without a single loss, even though their playstyles are the complete opposite. SonicFox is known for his quick, smothering offense, but GO1 is more technical and capable of defending against any strategy or play style. However, most bets would understandably be put on Sonicfox, as he holds a number of championships and is arguably considered the king of EVO.

And it seems he was almost the Dragon Ball FighterZ champion for 2019 again. SonicFox managed to beat GO1 twice first, instigating a 0-2 lead, but then GO1 made an out-of-this-world comeback, beating SonicFox three times in a row to secure the EVO 2019 Dragon Ball FighterZ championship. It's clear that there's no bad blood, however, due to what followed immediately after the match (around the 27:00 mark in the below video).

GO1 was understandably reduced to tears because he finally clutched the moment that had been avoiding him for so long, earning pats on the back and praise from SonicFox. Then, SonicFox lifts him to his feet, stands beside him, and raises his arm, as GO1 officially becomes the Dragon Ball FighterZ Evo 2019 champion.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One
