The Game Awards has already been chock-full of video game announcements and trailers and those trailers included the newest project from Flying Wild Hog and Focus Entertainment. Evil West had been announced previously but this year's The Game Awards was when the general public got their best look at what's being cooked up in Evil West.

Evil West was first announced at last year's edition of The Game Awards with a separate trailer that introduced the main character of the upcoming game. However, not much info about the game since that announcement had been made public.

The new trailer shown off at The Game Awards doubled down on what info is known about the upcoming title. The new trailer showed that the cowboy-looking character will have several different ways to take on some monstrous enemies. There was the old reliable pistol being emptied into several baddies, but there was also something that looked quite a bit like an old west shotgun to pack a bit more of a punch.

The new trailer also showed off that in Evil West, the protagonist, named Jesse Rentier, won't have to rely on gunplay alone. It appears there will also be special melee abilities that can be wielded when enemies get a bit too close to blast away. Flying Wild Hog developers have said that both weapons and these abilities will be able to be upgraded in a way that feels vaguely reminiscent of something like a shooter in the vein of the Borderlands franchise.

However, unlike Borderlands, Evil West takes a third-person point of view. That means that players will be able to get a better look at Rentier when he starts blasting away at wave after wave of monster. In the previous reveal, Flying Wild Hog laid out the plot of the game, which will take place in a kind of alternate American frontier. It turns out that Rentier is a member of a super secret organization that is dedicated to hunting down and wiping out vampires that are plaguing the area.

Users will be able to fight alone or as part of a co-op team against the hordes of bloodsuckers coming at them in this version of the Old West. While the trailer did also reveal that Evil West is expected sometime later this year, an official release date or month is still not known.

Evil West is due to release sometime in 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
