Season three of The Boys has kicked off on Amazon Prime Video and is reaching truly diabolical levels of success. The Boys have garnered an incredible amount of praise in the short time that season three has been available, releasing one episode a week. Even more so, Homelander, one of the show's focal villains, has received extensive popularity with his rash actions and deep personality flaws.

The evil Superman trope has been a steady gimmick in many forms of comics and super-hero-themed media for quite some time. Several characters embody this trope more than others, some even stronger than Homelander. Here are some of those evil supermen that are stronger than The Boys' Homelander.

7 Omni-Man

omni-man invincible

Created by Robert Kirkman (known for The Walking Dead) as an Image Comics imprint, Omni-Man takes the superman origin and turns it on its head. A member of a superior elitist race called Viltrumite, Omni-Man was sent to Earth to conquer it instead of saving it.

Along with over a century of training in battle, Super Strength, Super Speed, incredible durability, and healing, as well as the ability to survive in space are just a few of the powers that Omni-Man holds over Homelander. Omni-Man does lack the laser eye beams of Homelander, but his durability is through the roof, allowing him to take almost any type of damage on the chin and remain standing.

6 Plutonian

The series went for seventy-eight issues and explored what if the world's greatest hero became the world's greatest super-villain. The Plutonian possess an extensive array of powers that Homelander and Superman don't have, such as reality manipulation, energy control, and even psionic abilities.

5 Hyperion

hyperion marvel comics

Marvel Comics and DC Comics have gone back and forth on mimicking each other's characters for decades. Superman was a prime target for Marvel to imitate, and they have done so multiple times. The first iteration of Marvel’s Superman was Hyperion, a menacing brute who has crossed between hero and villain on various occasions.

Hyperion was created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema and first appeared in Avengers #85. The case surrounding Hyperion is interesting as there are multiple versions of the character within the Marvel continuity, two of which are on superhero teams as a Marvel hero. However, the villainous incarnation of Hyperion is one of the most feared characters in the marvel universe.

4 Super-Boy Prime

In the world of evil Supermen, Super-Boy Prime is DC Comic’s crack at the archetype. While DC has several evil supermen, Super-Boy Prime stands as one of the most corrupt and most powerful of them all. Elliot Maggin, Curt Swan, and Geof Johns created Super-Boy Prime, best known for appearing in Infinite Crisis.

Super-Boy Prime is another victim of faulting under the expectations and abuse he endured trying to be a hero and becoming unstable in the process. Super-Boy Prime has all of Superman's Strengths and has obtained a laundry list of new powers he doesn't have. Super-Boy Prime has even held a Yellow Lantern Ring at one time.

3 Gladiator

Gladiator was created by Chirs Clairemont, known for his success with the X-Men series, and first appeared in The X-Men #107. Gladiator is the superman to his own world but a villainous threat to the planet Earth and the X-Men. His powers include heat vision, energy control, and immortality.

2 Sentry

the sentry marvel comics

The Sentry is a special case in the Marvel universe; while another offshoot of superman, for the most part, Sentry does his best to be a great hero. The Sentry is said to possess the strength of one-million exploding suns, having gone toe to toe with the likes of Thor and Hyperion.

However, a dark force within The Sentry could take control at any moment and go on a rampage called the Void. Even without the Void, Sentry suffers from an incredibly weak mental fortitude and is easily taken advantage of. On more than one occasion, Sentry has stepped into a very gray area of heroism after seemingly killing Carnage and its host by taking them into space and ripping Ares in half.

1 Ultraman

ultraman dc comics

As a Superman from an alternate universe where all the great heroes of the DC Universe have shifted to a more villainous role, Ultraman serves as the true opposite incarnation of Superman. Gardner Fox and Greg Sekowsky created Ultraman for Superman Supacomic #14; however, he is most popular from the Infinite Crisis event.

Ultraman has all of Superman's powers but is the polar opposite of the man of steel's personality, one strange difference is that Ultraman has no weakness to Kryptonite, it instead makes him stronger.
