2004 was a different era in PC gaming. It was the year that Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, Far Cry, Doom 3, and Star Wars: Battlefront were released. Among those 2004 PC games was Evil Genius, a real-time strategy game that became a cult hit due to its campy humor and unique premise. Few would have expected the villain base-building simulator to get a sequel, yet in 2019 developer Rebellion made it official. Evil Genius 2: World Domination is in the works, and now it also has a release date.

A new trailer for Evil Genius 2 was shared Thursday morning by Rebellion. The trailer showcases many of Evil Genius 2's core features before revealing its new release window. Evil Genius 2 will now officially launch on March 30, exclusively on PC. When it launches, Evil Genius 2's only confirmed PC storefront is Steam. There's no word on if Evil Genius 2 will be made available via the Epic Games Store or other storefronts down the line.

The Evil Genius 2 trailer is otherwise a great introduction to the game for those who aren't familiar with the game. It shows the basics of building the player's evil lair, reveals the game's four different evil genius playable characters, and the various mechanics involved in taking over the world. It's an unconventional real-time strategy game, to be sure, but is all the better for it.

Players will be able to experience Evil Genius 2 for themselves starting March 30. For those who don't want to wait, however, the original Evil Genius game is currently available on Steam, GOG, and via a physical copy through online retailers. It's currently priced at just $9.99 and is the perfect way to practice being a villain before the sequel comes out.
