Launching for PC earlier this year, Evil Genius 2: World Domination aimed to resurrect the cult-classic gameplay of its 2004 predecessor, tasking players with constructing elaborate secret lairs filled with villainous contraptions. Now, it seems developer Rebellion is ready to bring its wacky simulator to a new audience of supervillains, confirming today that the game will launch on consoles later this year.

Unveiled via a new trailer posted to the franchise's official YouTube account, Evil Genius 2 will hit PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X during Q4 of 2021. The promo also confirms that it will be making its way to Xbox Game Pass the day it launches, meaning players subscribed to the service can hop into the title for no additional cost.

For those who missed Evil Genius 2's release earlier this year, the general premise sees players pick one of four dastardly supervillains, each coming with their own set of special abilities and perks. They'll then set about constructing a base filled with minions to do their bidding, whether that's executing perilous heists across the world or fending off heroes coming to put a stop to their evil reign.

Along the way, they'll get to add various fun additions to their lair, including a tourist-scamming casino and a room that can dramatically upgrade their minions. They'll even be able to add crazy traps to prevent infiltrators from reaching their center of operations, with the console port's trailer showing off one contraption that pings enemies down hallways like a pinball machine.

In general, there's tons of eccentric humor to be found throughout Evil Genius 2, whether that's through the outlandish rooms players can add to their secret lairs or the charismatic henchmen they can employ to protect them. Its charming tone was a major point of praise throughout the game's slate of reviews back in March, with critics also celebrating its engrossing gameplay loop and character-filled art style. Game Rant's own review called it "a compelling and detailed management sim with an engaging theme," noting that it was "a worthy successor to Elixir Studios' cult classic management sim." It'll be interesting to see how its upcoming console port compares.

It won't be the only PC game making its jump to consoles during the final months of 2021, with Chernobylite coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next month and Phoenix Point hitting both platforms in October. Although Evil Genius 2 doesn't currently have a firm release date, it's sure to be one to watch for console fans this Fall.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination is out now on PC, with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions launching during Q4 2021.
