Announced at last year's Game Awards, Evil Dead: The Game looks to bring Ash and his various companions to a video game format for the first time, offering a multiplayer experience on PC and consoles. Since its announcement, players haven't seen much of the exciting adaptation, however, it seems that's set to change very soon.

Announced via the upcoming title's Twitter account, Evil Dead: The Game will be premiering its first gameplay footage at Summer Game Fest. Fans who want a glimpse at the title in action will have to tune into the festival's kickoff show on June 10, with the event slated to begin at 11:00 AM PT.

Alongside the announcement, Evil Dead: The Game's tweet also offered a look at a new playable character, confirming that Cheryl Williams will crop up in the multiplayer title. For those unfamiliar with the Evil Dead franchise, Cheryl is Ash's younger sister and a recurring character throughout the series' various entries. She made her debut in the first Evil Dead film and has since turned up in Ash vs Evil Dead's second season. It appears she'll be able to battle demonic forces alongside Ash and the game's array of iconic characters when the game launches.

The roster so far has come packed with names from all over the Evil Dead franchise, including Evil Dead: Army of Darkness' Lord Arthur and Pablo from Ash vs Evil DeadPlayers will also be able to assume the role of the Kandarian Demon, attempting to devour the souls of Ash and his allies in PVP battles. It seems the latter will have an array of fun abilities ripped straight from the films, including the option to possess Deadites and other survivors. The game is definitely shaping up to be a fun adaptation of the series and one to watch ahead of its release date sometime later this year.

It's not the only content on the horizon for fans of the franchise though, as a fourth Evil Dead film is currently in production. The next iteration of the seminal horror franchise will transition away from Ash's adventures, cycling out the revered hero to focus on a new female protagonist. Not much else has been revealed about the next entry, although it's sure to continue offering over-the-top violence, creepy demons, and a healthy dose of cheesy humor. Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are both involved in the reboot, although they'll serve as executive producers, with The Hole in The Ground director Lee Cronin helming the film.

Evil Dead: The Game will release later this year for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
