Although it is set to release in 2022, there is already much information regarding the tabletop game and its development. However, the immense number of details surrounding Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game makes it difficult to encompass. Many important aspects, consequently, go unnoticed or unexplained despite their importance. So, here are the most significant and exciting elements of Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game.

8 The Classes

The Gaang

Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game players can choose one of the six classes commonly referred to as heroes. Each class possesses distinct abilities, features, and playstyles that distinguish them. There are two categories heroes fall into: benders and non-benders. Obviously, the former consists of WaterbendersEarthbenders, Firebenders, and Airbenders. The latter, however, includes Martial Artists (like Sokka) and Technological Tinkerers (like Hiroshi Sato).

There is a great deal of versatility and not many restrictions regarding a hero's abilities, so far. In fact, much of what a player can do is bound by their character's training and their imagination. A Firebender, for instance, possesses the phenomenal power to control fire; yet, they lack the confrontational proficiencies of a Martial Artist. This simple yet logical approach to the game allows players to take advantage of the freedom TTRPGs provide.

7 The System

Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game captures every element that TTRPGs like Dungeons & Dragons are known for. It inspires creativity, engagement, and immersion, much like any other tabletop game. However, there is one considerable difference. Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game utilizes a popular system that presents a unique and straightforward approach to the game.

Game developer Vincent Baker made a system for his TTRPG Apocalypse World known as Powered By The Apocalypse. This system favors simplicity and inventiveness, making it a popular choice among third-party developers. Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game uses this system to grant players of all ages a fun and simple experience.

6 Balance

Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game presents a unique mechanic for characters called Balance. This refers the internal struggle between two opposing principles, based on a character's playbook. Balance plays a critical role in a variety of aspects, making it by far the most important mechanic a player should consider.

Depending on where Balance lies on the track, a character could gain bonuses or reductions to rolls. For example, a character with the Bold playbook must Balance the principles of Loyalty and Confidence. Swaying towards Loyalty grants them a bonus in it, while Confidence receives a reduction. Balancing each principle, however, has no positive or negative effects on rolls.

5 Eras Of Play

All The Avatars

The Avatar universe has an expansive history characterized by the Avatars and the Four Nations. Although the eras are innumerable, the animated shows and comics have presented the most prominent periods of all time. These pivotal moments in the Avatar universe's history include Kyoshi's Era, Roku's Era, The Hundred Year War Era, Aang's Era, and Korra's Era.

In Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game, players can choose any of these periods to set their game in. Each era possesses a unique focus and distinct themes, which provide vastly different experiences. For instance, the Hundred Year War Era is a time of tyranny, while Aang's Era is a period of healing. The chosen era depends on the players; in fact, they may choose to play in an age unlisted in the game.

4 The Four Nations

The Four Nations are a key element in nearly every critical moment of the Avatar universe's history. Each nation has distinct beliefs, values, and ways of life that often clash with others. These differences have sparked pivotal developments throughout time, which have forever changed the Avatar universe.

In Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game players can decide what nation/nations their game will take place in. They may decide to confine themselves to one nation, or choose to visit all four. The expansiveness of their scope determines as many aspects of a game as the era does.
