Fortnite is leading the charge in pop-culture crossovers, with a vast slew of Marvel, DC, and TV/movie properties all having various skins and items featured in the game. It only makes sense, then, that one of the Hollywood's biggest franchises would want to crossover with one of gaming's biggest franchises.

Over the last few years, Fortnite and Star Wars have crossed over quite a few times. While the size of the crossover has changed every time, they have always brought with them new skins, items, gliders, and emotes, some of which players still use months or even a year after their initial release.

The Fortnite X Star Wars Event

Star Wars made their Fortnite debut back in December of 2019, in an event that received a somewhat mixed reception from both Star Wars and Fortnite fans. The event itself took place on December 14, 2019, and offered an exclusive first-look at the upcoming Rise of Skywalker movie.

As players loaded in to Risky Reels, the iconic Millenium Falcon would swoop down to meet them, before being intercepted by a few TIE fighters. Once the Falcon shot them down, it landed in front of players, its doorway opened, and Game Awards' own Geoff Keighley stepped out. He then ushered out a Stormtrooper voiced by Ben Schwartz, the talent behind the Sonic movie's own Blue Blur, who in turn brought out Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker director, J.J. Abrams.

After showing a brief clip from the ninth Star Wars episode, players were tasked with voting on their favorite lightsaber color. As they did this, Star Destroyers hyperspaced in and the Falcon took its flight. As they left, the voice of The Emperor could be heard, giving some key exposition for the upcoming movie that was actually left out of the final theatrical release. As the live event ended, players were given lightsabers of their chosen color, and were thrown into a deathmatch.

After the live section of the event, players could then hop into a standard match and play through the rest of the event's content, which involved crashed TIE fighters being scattered around the map. These crash sites contained lightsabers and First Order Blaster Rifles, which were limited-time weapons.

Along with these limited-time weapons also came some skins which could only be purchased for a limited amount of time. These included some of the core cast of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, such as Rey and Finn, along with the brand new Sith Trooper skin. Kylo Ren and Zorri Bliss skins were also added to the game during that year's Winterfest event, along with a Millenium Falcon glider.

Further down the line, an X-Wing glider was added to coincide with the release of Star Wars: Squadrons, along with some harvesting tools such as Rey's Quarterstaff, and a Riot Control Baton. A Stormtrooper skin was added with the release of Jedi Fallen Order.

The Mandalorian

Starting in December 2020, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 saw a crossover with the hit The Mandalorian Disney+ show. The titular bounty hunter was included in the game via a skin, and his adorable little alien child, Grogu, was added as a pet, appearing in his hovering stroller behind the player.

What made the Mandalorian skin so unique was that players unlocked the standard armor on the first level of the Battle Pass, but could work towards earning the Mando's shiny Beskar armor by unlocking more levels on the Battle Pass. By level 100 of the Battle Pass, players would have access to all of the Mandalorian's Beskar armor set.

The Book of Boba Fett

Fortnite Boba Fett

The latest Fortnite/Star Wars crossover brings everyone's favorite bounty hunter-turned crime lord to the game, Boba Fett. Players can now purchase a Boba Fett skin, which uses his Book of Boba Fett look, as well as a jetpack back bling, a Gaffi Stick pickaxe, and a recently renamed Boba Fett's Starship glider.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
