Minecraft is known for creating an experience that can fit anyone’s genre. From crafting, farming and building, to deep-diving into dangerous caverns and caves while fighting off mobs, there is a little something for everyone. Thankfully, players don’t have to deal with the basic look of some items. Several things in Minecraft can be recolored to fit every aesthetic. From dyeing armor, beds, animal collars, and even glass, players have more than enough options to choose from.

With 16 dyes, though, it can be hard to figure out how to get every color. While some dyes can be easily found, there are some that take mixing ingredients to craft. Thankfully, this is a full list on every dye available, and how to get them.

For players who are wanting to farm these dyes frequently, players can make the specific dyed wool and then place it on a freshly sheered sheep. Players can either breed the same colors or combine colors.

16 White

White Dye Minecraft

White dye is an easy color to collect and can be important to craft other dyes as well. So having an abundance on hand could save time later. The first way players can craft white dye is by finding the Lily of the Valley flower. By collecting these, they can use the crafting table to craft the dye.

The other way, which can be a little more dangerous, is by killing skeletons. Once they drop bones, players can use the crafting table to essentially crush the bone to make bonemeal, which is white dye. Bonemeal is also collected once composters are full, which can be done by throwing seeds, vegetables, and fruits in there.

15 Black

Black Dye Minecraft

As the darkest dye in Minecraft, there is only one way that players can craft it. By Inc Sacs, which are dropped by Squids. So, for players wanting to dec their builds in dark hues, be prepared to dive in water and kill a few of these passive mobs.

They can drop between one to three Inc Sacs at a time, so there is a chance that players can farm this dye easily. Players should note that the new mob, the Glow Squids, will drop Glow Inc Sacs, however, they can not be made into dyes.

14 Brown

Brown Dye Minecraft

Brown dye is made from Cocoa Beans, which can be a task to find in itself due to it only growing on jungle trees. The Jungle biomes are somewhat rare, but are usually big when found, so players have a chance at gathering a lot of Beans when there, plus they can be placed on the side of jungle wood to regrow!

Once players spend several days wandering the map to find this biome, they can gather the Cocoa Beans and use the crafting table to make brown Dye.

13 Red

red Dye Minecraft

There are three items that can form red dye, and they are common. The first is a Red Poppy flower, the second is a Rose, and the third is a Beatroot. The flowers can be commonly found wandering the biomes, but especially in the flower forest biomes.

Players can also use bonemeal on a grass block, and a variety of flowers will grow. Beatroots are commonly found in villages, either in their farms, in their chests, or even being sold by farmers. After obtaining any of the three items, players can simply craft the dye.

12 Green

Green Dye Minecraft

The green dye is the first dye that needs a furnace to obtain, however the ingredients needed are still simple to gather. Players must find a desert biome first and then gather Cactus.

After this, players will need to burn the Cactus blocks in the furnace, which will leave them with the dye.

11 Blue

Blue Dye Minecraft

There are two ways that players can get blue dye, and one is a pretty easy way. Like with red, players can easily gather several cornflowers found in the flower forest biome to craft the blue dye.

However, another method is by using Lapis Lazuli to craft blue. Granted, players will need to go underground to find it, in which case it can be dangerous, however, it’s an adventure worth taking!

10 Yellow

Yellow Dye Minecraft

Another dye that is crafted with flowers! Thankfully, the new forest flower biome is a savior for those who want to pick all the flowers they can get.

But for this dye, players will need to find either Sunflowers or Dandelions to craft yellow dye.

9 Grey

Grey Dye Minecraft

Now that all the primary colors are out of the way, it's time to dive into the colors that require mixing. Of course, some of these colors can be guessed if players know their art, but some can still be tricky. Grey, however, is simple.

Grey is made by combining black and white, which means players will need one bonemeal and one ink sac with a crafting table.

8 Light Grey

Light Grey Dye Minecraft

If grey wasn’t too tedious for players, then the light grey might be. There are two ways players can go about crafting this dye. The first is getting the grey dye and adding more bonemeal to it.

The second technic is by placing one white tulip, oxeye daisy or azure bluet into the crafting table by itself.

7 Orange

Orange Dye Minecraft

The orange dye is self-explanatory. Players will need to combine both a red dye and yellow together to create orange.

Or, if players gathered enough flowers in the flower forest biome, they can just place an orange tulip in the crafting table.

6 Lime

Lime Dye Minecraft

Another simple mixture, the Lime Dye only requires bonemeal and green dye to craft.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be gathered to craft it, it must be combined with the two dyes.

5 Light Blue

Another item that can be made from either a flower or combining two dyes. And which two dyes would they be? Correct! Bonemeal and Lapis Lazuli!

And for the flower that creates the light blue dye is the Blue Orchid.

4 Cyan

cyan Dye Minecraft

Cyan is another dye that is only created when combining two colors, as nothing in the Minecraft world has something that can be made into it.

The beautiful teal is created by adding Lapis Lazuli, or Blue Dye, and Green Dye.

3 Pink

Pink Dye Minecraft

Pink Dye is crafted when adding White Dye and Red Dye together in the crafting table.

Or if players want to forage for some Peonies or Pink Tulips in the flower forest biome, that will do the trick as well.

2 Purple

Purple Dye Minecraft

Like most of the secondary colors, Purple Dye can be obtained by combining two previously crafted dyes.

Players will need to place Red Dye and Blue Dye on the crafting table to craft this item.

1 Magenta

Magenta Dye Minecraft

And lastly, as the final dye, this one must be a little complicated. There are three options when crafting this dye. The first is by crafting it from a Lilac Flower.

The other two options are from combining certain dye. One option is crafting Purple and Pink together, while the second is crafting Blue, Red and White together. The option is up to the players!
