EVE Online typically makes headlines for epic wars between highly dedicated communities. The MMORPG by CCP Games sees players creating their own character to explore and live in an expansive universe. Now fans can look forward to more landmarks and sights to see, as a recent update added more content to EVE Online.

When it comes to the size of the game, EVE Online truly lives up to the "massive" label of MMOs. Strewn throughout the universe are thousands of star systems, and it has even broken two Guinness World Records. While this space provides content for the growing community, there are also unique landmarks players can find. Thanks to the recent update, there are some more secrets, as well as revamped locations, to discover.

Those enjoying the galaxy can find three new landmarks that CCP Games introduced to the game. The first is the Cord of the Elements, a naturally occurring super-dense dark cloud. Found in the Syndicate region, it is supposedly formed by two black holes, but could potentially be man-made. Another cloud formation, the Pool of Radiance, appears in Sansha's Nation and demands an armed escort to view safely. Last up is the Trace Cosmos, an area comprising of nothing but black holes and spatial rifts. The notes mention that it is a barren death trap, and much too dangerous to explore.

New landmarks are not the only changes appearing in this update, with some older ones getting a facelift. Those familiar with the Villore Gate can check out the unique stargate variant that replaces the old look. After the update, Data and Relic sites show off faction designs better. Both the Children of Light and Caroline's Star have visual changes as well that look better than the previous style. Finally, the EVE Gate sees a change to be more visible to new players joining after EVE Online went free-to-play.

With an original release in 2003, visual updates to various areas will be welcome among the communities of EVE Online. Plus, it sounds like the team at CCP games has worked to not only make landmarks look better, but also function more clearly for players. Though there are only three new landmarks to explore, it sounds like there is a good variation between them. With it ranging from safe to dangerous, both casual and hardcore fans can get some enjoyment out of the update.

While this is certainly nifty for players who enjoy one of the best space exploration games, it does not seem like the landmarks serve much of a purpose otherwise. The game involves building up characters and truly living in the universe, but subtle visual improvements seem minor in comparison to the gameplay. In any case, this update should serve as a fun way to engage with the massive universe of EVE Online.
