There are some franchises which can often throw people by how popular they inexplicably become. The Truck Simulator games, such as American Truck Simulator released in 2016, have become surprising successes over the years, and even though Euro Truck Simulator 2 is more than eight years old at this point, it's still enjoying moderate success as a recent announcement states it will be getting some new DLC soon.

This new DLC will allow players to simulate life on the road in Russia. According to the official Steam page, the Heart of Russia will do exactly what it says: allow Euro Truck Simulator 2 fans to travel to the heart of one of the biggest countries in the world. The announcement of this DLC comes just a couple of months after an expansion allowed people to transport the COVID-19 vaccine.

Unfortunately, at the point of this pandemic-themed add-on being released, the Truck Simulator developer, SCS Software, came under hot water when it was unclear where they stood on vaccinations. A statement issued around the time of Hauling Hope's release said the company maintained a neutral stance on the issue, which, unsurprisingly, caused a bit of confusion.

Whether there will be any controversy surrounding the Heart of Russia DLC remains to be seen, but the fact that there's already a Russia-themed expansion called Beyond the Baltic Sea, it's unlikely to cause any issues. Some fans may now regard Euro Truck Simulator 2 as one of the best simulation game out there, but it certainly has its fan base and adding more content shows there's still a lot of life in it.
