The HBO Max series Euphoria's second season is still going strong, but fans of the show can rest easy in knowing that it won't be the last time they get to see Rue and company on screen. News that Euphoria is getting a Season 3 came right in the middle of the second season, removing any drama that might have been hanging around about the story's continuation.

For those that haven't yet dipped into the hit HBO Max show, Euphoria centers around a group of high school students in what is a gritty look at what that period of life is like for some people out there. The main character is a young girl named Rue, played by Zendaya, who is also a recovering drug addict that has fallen in love with her best friend. The show tells the story of several other characters who are all dealing with their own levels of drama and intrigue including one character who has an in-the-closet overbearing father who has done some real damage to his son's psyche.

All of these stories will continue on in the next season of Euphoria thanks to the official renewal being announced last week. While there might have been some trepidation about whether or not the show would get renewed because of its rather hot button issues, it shouldn't be all that big a shock considering what a rating juggernaut the show is for HBO Max.

The series has garnered Emmy nominations and awards and is often the most talked-about show on social media directly following each new episode. More and more often, just how much people are discussing a show is becoming a better determination of how popular it is than just ratings alone. If that's truly the case, then Euphoria and its cast of characters are right at the top of the list of popular programs.

If there was ever a reason why the show wouldn't get renewed it might have been just because it was so polarizing for the way it tells its story. It's also one of the few programs on television today that has a teen transgender character dealing with how she's accepted as she goes through her transition in Hunter Schafer's Jules.

The Season 3 debut date has not been officially announced, though it seems as if it's likely to run on the same basic schedule of Season 2. The current season debuted on January 9 and is set to come to a close on February 27.

Euphoria is available to stream on HBO Max.
