The following article contains spoilers for Eternals.

Marvel Studios' Eternals is finally in theatres and it is already racking up outstanding numbers at the box office. However, much of the talk so far is being focused on the film's mid and post-credits scenes, where new exciting additions to the MCU are teased.

In the mid-credits scene of Eternals, pop star Harry Styles is revealed as the new MCU character Starfox (who is also the brother of Thanos) with the teleporting Pip the Troll played by comedian Patton Oswalt. But that's not all. The post-credits scene teases the beginning of Dane Whitman's (Kit Harington) transformation into the Black Knight.

In that post-credits scene of Eternals, Whitman is in his classroom at the university, where he opens an old chest inherited from his ancestors that contains a valuable family antique: the Ebony Blade. After Sersi has been taken to face the judgment of the Celestials for ultimately deciding to kill the newborn celestial, Tiamut, while also ending the emergence on Earth, Whitman considers taking up the blade in order to save her himself. But what gets even more interesting is that while Whitman is staring at the blade and contemplating his decision, he hears a voice off-screen asking him if he is ready to harness the legendary sword. While there has been much speculation from fans on who the mystery voice could be, it seems director Chloé Zhao has already confirmed who it is, and it is no other than Mahershala Ali's Blade. "That was the voice of one of my favorite superheroes, Mr. Blade himself. Blade, Blade, Blade, yeah!" Zhao told Fandom.

Mahershala Ali Marvel Studios Blade series

The Oscar-winning Ali was confirmed to star in the MCU's Blade reboot back in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con. The Blade reboot will be directed by Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli, Ghosts of Sugar Land, These Birds Walk), with a script by Watchmen TV series writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour. Although details have been kept under wraps, rumors have been brewing that the story will follow Ali's Blade training his daughter to join him as a vampire hunter.

After the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, it'll be interesting to see the introduction of many new thrilling heroes and where they fit in this ongoing universe as Marvel's phase 4 continues. While the Blade reboot is still ways away, with the film's production looking to begin shooting sometime in 2022, it's possible fans can expect Ali's new character to briefly appear in a few of the upcoming MCU films, as well as Harington gradually evolving into the Black Knight.

Eternals is now exclusively playing in theatres.
