Tarkov's Shoreline map is wide-open with a lot of forested areas throughout. Unlike the Factory or Interchange maps, the points of interest are far from each other and separated by wilderness. For that reason, it can be easy to get caught off guard while traversing it. At the center of the map, there is a river that divides the left and right sections of Shoreline.
The most popular area of the map is the resort, which segregates the north and south of the river. The appropriate strategy for the map will be dependent upon spawn points, as well as playstyle. Tarkov's survival-based gameplay meshes well with the layout of Shoreline, which is designed for intermediate and advanced players. This list will cover ten different tips for players attempting to survive on the Shoreline.
10 Spawn Location and Strategy
The best spawn locations are to the north of the resort. These players or teams will want to move immediately to the resort and secure it. Any of the gamers in west or southeast spawns have a few options. They can move up to the resort and fight the team controlling it, or they can rotate south to the pier. Teams on the west end of the map will likely stay in that sector early game and move toward the Cottages or Sanitar later in the raid.
9 The Wipe Will Determine Movement
Early in a wipe the points of interest will be contested after the spawn because a ton of players will be looking for Scavs to complete quests. Pier and Gas Station will always have players roaming around in the first thirty minutes or so of a raid.
On the other hand, late in a wipe, the lobby will be more PVP-focused. This means that the Resort and Pier will be crawling with enemies looking to take down other survivors. High-tier loot locations and the Scav boss will be the primary locations that draw in more people. Extraction locations will always be dangerous areas.
8 Avoid The Fields To The Southeast
In the southeast quadrant of the map, there are a lot of open areas without cover. Specifically, the landscape between the radar tower and weather station is very treacherous. Anyone caught in the flat fields in this sector will be lucky to leave it in one piece. As stated, there will be a number of teams rotating southwest to the pier or northwest to the resort. The high traffic in this area results in a convergence of teams and little to no cover throughout. Moving along the edge of the map is a more effective strategy early in the match.
7 The Dreaded Minefield
In the southeast corner of the map, there is an expansive minefield. The mines are impossible to see and will kill people if two are activated. Teams that spawn near the location must travel to the north or northwest to avoid breaking their legs on the invisible traps. If gamers do get their legs broken by a mine, they should heal with a CMS kit and retrace their steps to avoid dying.
6 How To Get In The Resort
On the west side of the resort wall, there is a hole that provides access to the interior of the three-story resort. People that spawned either to the north or west will likely use this entrance to gain access to the area. There is also a method to enter or exit through the admin building. By shooting out the glass windows, teams will be able to breach into the resort. The same is true for the hallways on both the east and west wings of the building.
5 Navigating The Resort
The current state of audio in Tarkov needs some tinkering. Directional and vertical audio can be inconsistent at the resort. As a result, players need to be interpreting audio, but still use anticipation to guess where opponents will appear.
The resort is three stories tall and there will be multiple PMCs roaming the area at all times. Audio is a helpful tool, but it must be combined with intuition. As survivors gain more experience in the area, they will learn the most common peek and flank spots in the resort.
4 Audio Cues
It goes without saying that audio plays a huge role in Tarkov. On Shoreline, the Scav bosses attract a lot of attention in the mid-game. Consistent gunfire and grenade spamming are telltale signs that a Scav boss is near. Each wipe, the locations of the bosses and other Scavs may change, so it is important to listen for common cues.
3 Safe Loot Areas
Weather Station has a host of valuable items spawn during raids and it is not as contested as many of the other areas. Teams spawning on the west will most likely be traveling south to the pier or north to the resort. The station is one of the better early to mid-game locations to loot up before heading to the resort. In the west/northwest, the village and swamp areas have several buildings with worthwhile loot.
2 Sanitar Spawns
The Scav boss will spawn in a number of locations. The general areas he will spawn are the cottages, the resort, and the pier. However, the exact spawn point is randomized. Any type of rounds will defeat the boss, but he will have a considerable amount of health. Sanitar has two guards or minions that will accompany him at all times. The loot from each of the enemies is worthwhile. Sanitar will commonly drop the new stim, labs card, and key with tape. His guards will drop level five armor and a myriad of weapons.
1 Best PVP Locations
The resort is the hotbed for PVP on Shoreline. It has both the most valuable loot and the most PMCs. The location is perfect for those who want to be aggressive and use short-ranged guns to decimate teams. However, the area can be slightly chaotic for new players. Those that prefer long-ranged combat will enjoy the areas between the power station and the gas station. There are hills and long sightlines that encourage extended engagements on the south end of Shoreline.
