The development studio behind Escape from Tarkov, Battlestate Games, is gearing up for the game’s next major content update. Best known as the massive multiplayer shooter grounded in gritty realism, Escape from Tarkov exploded in popularity earlier this year.

Thanks to a major boost from Twitch, Battlestate has been able to update and expand Escape from Tarkov over the last six months. Now, Battlestate’s COO Nikita Buyanov is letting fans know the team has big plans for Tarkov before the massive new location Streets of Tarkov is released.

As mentioned above, Escape from Tarkov dominated Twitch viewership earlier this thanks to an integrated loot drop system. Many big streamers hopped on the game and got a lot of enjoyment out of the overall experience. Since then, Tarkov has seen a huge jump in its player base as well as influencer coverage. With all the extra buzz and support surrounding the game, Battlestate has kept updating Tarkov with new and exciting content like the upcoming Streets of Tarkov location.

However, Nikita Buyanov recently took to Reddit to give a brief status update on Battlestate, as well as tease some new content coming to Tarkov before Streets of Tarkov is released. First, Buyanov confirms that the studio is fine and and almost all employees are working from home. Most of the level designers and environment artists are working on the new map Streets of Tarkov, while other members of the team are working on the upcoming 12.8 update. However, Buyanov also confirms that an old map will be getting a new expansion before then.

A lot of fans on the Escape from Tarkov subreddit are speculating that the map getting an expansion will be Shoreline. However, it seems that a few other players want Factory to be the map receiving the expansion. Regardless, it seems like Tarkov’s next update patch isn’t too far off, and will contain lots of quality of life changes that fans have been asking for. While Buyanov made it abundantly clear that he’s distancing himself from interacting with the subreddit, he appreciates the helpful feedback and discussion that takes place there.

It wasn’t too long ago that Escape from Tarkov’s 12.7 Update released, which added new weapons and enemies to the game as well as majorly expanding the map Customs. Thankfully, Battlestate has been able to keep up with the game’s increase in popularity fairly well. The game has seen numerous updates over the past couple months that have polished the overall experience in a lot of ways. Needless to say, fans of Tarkov have plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
