This HK 416-A5 is an interesting gun because it can go both ways for players. It can give them a hard time, or it can make them a threat during any PVP engagement. For starters, it has one of the highest rates of fire for guns, if not the highest. This makes close-quarters fights in Escape From Tarkov exciting because players can counter faster, and better. However, while it takes 5.6 by 44mm bullets, players shouldn't use it to go up against armored enemies, since they are softer bullets.

The reason why the HK 416- 5 is first on this list is because it has a high recoil. Even with the many modifications the player can do to it, the gun can still cause problems at a distance. One major rule of Escape From Tarkov is to not run-and-gun; however, if players have the HK 416-A5, they can get away with that since their shots will land when close to the enemy.

4 AK-74N

Fighting in PVP engagement it can be rather exciting; however, when the enemy is out-kitted, they can fight back and probably take down the player. However, the AK-74N can make every player fight better. One of the best qualities of this weapon is that it can be customized for a wide selection of uses, short-range, and long-range, so it's a great gun to have early in Escape From Tarkov.

Out of the box, it's a decent weapon, but if players put a lot of money into it, the gun becomes consistent with what it can do. So if players want to get the best out of this weapon, they need to spend quite a lot on it, but it'll be rewarding in the end. For medium-to-short-range engagement, the AK-74N is worth it, allowing players to dominate any PVP zones, in most locations.

3 DT-MDR 5.56x45

escape from tarkov modding view of DT-MDR

Escape From Tarkov follows trends of a lot of great shooters in the genre, including the vast ways to play and the variety of weaponry that's offered to players. The DT-MDR is a great example. It acts as a middle ground for the assault rifle class, and showcases what the class is great at. It's great for all sorts of fights, so players can quickly adapt to any situation with this weapon. Plus, it needs minimal modifications.

On top of that, it can be a full auto and a semi-auto, so players can switch up how they play because of that. The DT-MDR is a great weapon to for starters, but because of its limited upgrades, players can only do so much with it. Players will notice those limitations after those upgrades.

2 SCAR-L

The SCAR-L is a very popular weapon that players may have seen in other big shooters like Call Of Duty and Battlefield. It operates here in the same way it does in those games. It features a lot of the same characteristics as DT- MDR, being great right out of the box and highly dynamic with what it can do. Unlike the DT-MDR, players who use the SCAR-L can fight opponents with the best armor in Escape From Tarkov. With some effort, this gun can eat that armor away.

This can allow players to fight more aggressively, and down enemies faster. Plus, as mentioned before it's a dynamic weapon, more so than the DT-MDR because it can fight in different ranges, long, medium, and short. Not only that, with the few adjustments the SCAR-L needs, it can be a threat in the long term.

1 M4A1

On the high end of the assault rifle class, the M4A1 is a perfect weapon to use. It's highly modifiable, easy to use, and has stopping power, all things players need in Escape From Tarkov. Players can do almost anything with this gun, and once modified to the fullest, everything gets better. However, due to its modifications, no two M4A1 will different so if players are on the team with someone else with that gun, the other player can create a different build to help out the team.

The issue with this weapon isn't its performance, but its expensive price tag. But once players can afford the M4A1, it will make them better and the whole experience of Escape From Tarkov becomes different. Another great aspect is that players don't have to play in one way, they can customize it for many ways to fight.
