Per its typical pattern, the Epic Games Store releases its new free games today, Tunche and The Silent Age, which will be available until March 6. At that time, the Epic Games Store will replace the two games with Dying Light: Enhanced Edition and Blazing Sails.

The Epic Games Store generally specializes in releasing solid indie gems that fans may have not heard of before. Blazing Sails wears this hat, but not Dying Light. It does release larger AAA games from time to time, especially with its mystery game bonuses and the like. It's a rare treat, but for those who haven't delved into the Dying Light franchise before, next week would be a great time to pick it up (or at least to get a PC copy too).

First up though is Tunche, a hand-drawn co-op action title with roguelike elements. Players are seeking to restore peace to the Amazon rainforest and do as one of five characters/classes: Rumi (sorceress), Pancho (musician), Qaru (bird boy), Nayra (warrior), and Hat Kid. The Silent Age, meanwhile, is a point-and-click adventure game where players must discover why humanity has disappeared and save it from extinction. These games will be available until March 6 at 10 am CT, rotating out at that time for Dying Light. In Dying Light, players enter the quarantine zone of Harran as Kyle Crane in search of data that could potentially produce a cure for the zombie virus that has contaminated the city.

The Enhanced Edition comes with plenty of extra goodies too, including the Dying Light: The Following expansion. This adds a new open-world area with modifiable buggies, as players deal with the Children of the Sun cult. It also includes all the content from the season pass, multiplayer game modes, additional missions and items, and more. Joining it is Blazing Sails, a game where players create their own pirate and ship, and take them into PvP. With a variety of game modes (including Treasure Hunt and Battle Royale), maps, weapons, and more. Although much smaller, it may scratch a similar itch to Sea of Thieves or fill the void left by Skull and Bones (although it's cartoony).

Epic Games Store March-April 2023 List

  • Tunche (March 30 - April 6)
  • The Silent Age (March 30 - April 6)
  • Blazing Sails (April 6 - April 13)
  • Dying Light: Enhanced Edition (April 6 - April 13)

It's also no secret that the sequel is out now, and much like the first game, Dying Light 2 is set to get years of support. With similar additions, brand new ones, challenges, and of course premium expansions, Dying Light 2 has a lot in the works to release between now and 2027. What's important to know though is that Dying Light 2 developer Techland is not afraid of making big changes and overhauling entire game mechanics. It'll be interesting to see what the game looks like in a couple of years, and with Dying Light for free now, it's a good time to get into the franchise.
