The Epic Games Store is holding its first sales event. The Epic Mega Sale is offering a blanket $10 off every game priced at $14.99 or more, in addition to several additional smaller discounts on specific games. The results include price drops of up to 70% off for many games. Epic is offering these $10 discounts straight out of its own pocket, with no additional cost being put upon developers. The sale lasts from May 15 through June 13

On top of the sale, the Epic Games Store is also speeding up its free game offerings with a new free game to be released every week of the sale. Epic's last free game, World of Goo, remains available for now but Stories Untold will take over later today. After that, a new free game will become available each week through June 13, then return to the store's usual 2-week schedule.

The potential $10 discount is being applied across the board to all games available on the Epic Games Store. That includes full price titles at $59.99, including pre-orders. Some examples include Borderlands 3, Sinking City, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, and Control. All of these games are discounted to $49.99, making them especially appealing.

What may be the best deals available in the Epic Mega Sale are the low-priced indie games hovering above the $14.99 threshold. With $10, these games are anywhere from 50-66% off, or even more with developer discounts. Some great examples include Supergiant's Hades for $6.99, The Walking Dead: The Final Season for $4.99, Slime Rancher for $4.99, Subnautica for $7.49, Metro: Last Light Redux for $4.99, and more.

One notable disappointment is that Ubisoft's Epic Games Store offerings, The Division 2 and Anno 1800, both remain unavailable. Epic had to remove them just days ago due to Uplay integration issues. Hopefully, Epic can fix the bug and these games will be available once more before the end of the sale.

The Epic Games Store has a long ways to go with regards to the storefront's currently available feature set. For example, despite such a broad range of excellent discounts, users will still have to purchase each game separately since a shopping cart feature has yet to be implemented. But for many, if not most, PC gamers access to the game at an affordable price is paramount above all other considerations.

Here are a couple of interesting notes about the sale before closing out. Quantic Dream's games, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human, have become available for pre-order as of the start of the sale and now include the discount. Also, the sale's end date is very interesting. June 13 marks the end of E3 2019, meaning that any games announced at E3 and put up for pre-order on the EGS will have an initial $10 discount.

The Epic Games Store Mega Sale will last from now through June 13.
