As always, Epic Games Store has recently gone through its weekly rotations and fans will be able to grab new games here soon. Until September 15, Epic Games Store users can snag Hundred Days - Winemaking Simulator and a launch bundle for Realm Royale Reforged.

These titles will last until 10 am CT on September 15, at which point the Epic Games Store will replace them with Spirit of the North and The Captain. These two indie games are focused on completely different adventure styles, but for those interested, here's what users should know about each title.

Epic Games Store Free Game - Spirit of the North

best-games-like-stray-spirit-of-the-north

In Spirit of the North, players take on the role an ordinary fox. There's nothing quite remarkable about this fox until it comes face to face with the guardian of the Northern Lights, who takes on a spiritual form of a fox. Players then set out to solve environmental puzzles about the lost civilization around them, aided throughout by the Northern Lights spirit. The game promises an emotional stirring journey despite having no dialog or narration; players are left to understand the story and meaning of Spirit of the North to themselves. It's a simple, straightforward puzzle adventure game tied to Nordic folklore, but it's one that hopes to stay with players long after they set it down. The story is top notch, if the gameplay is rather simplistic, akin even to a game like Stray.

Epic Games Store Free Game - The Captain

The Captain EGS

In The Captain, players take on the role of Thomas Welmu who must lead his crew home after getting lost on the other side of the galaxy. It is a retro adventure game, where players have the only thing that can save Earth from destruction but must race there. Along the way, the story will present them with tough choices that'll introduce new friends and enemies tied to other civilizations.

Players will have to choose between rushing to Earth, leaving everything else behind, or exploring new pre-industry civilizations, experimenting with wormholes (for a hopeful advantage), and saving loved ones or leaving them to die. Players will need to engage in space battles to ensure they have the strength to get home or avoid them entirely, to try to avoid taking too much damage. Players will have to keep repairs on their ships, upgrade it to survive, and so on. Indeed, it's a pretty straightforward adventure game but one that will make every choice matter in terms of story and gameplay.
