The Epic Games Store has been giving away free games throughout December to celebrate the holidays and the start of a new year. While each game is meant to be a surprise for Epic Games Store users, the Epic Games Store free games for December 2020 list has already leaked online, with each new game lending more legitimacy to that leak. Since the leak has proven to be largely accurate so far, it seems Epic Games Store users already know what the next free game will be.

As predicted by the leaked Epic Games Store free game list, Inside is the free game for December 24. As usual, Epic Games Store users have 24 hours to claim Inside for their collection if they're interested in doing so. Inside was one of the most critically-acclaimed games of 2016, and stands as yet another high-quality hit from developer Playdead, also known for its popular Limbo game. It's been over four years since Inside's launch and fans are waiting patiently to see what's next from Playdead, but in the meantime they can revisit the studio's 2016 game through the Epic Games Store.

With the confirmation that Inside is the Epic Games Store free game for December 24, the leaked list has gotten another game right. That means it's highly likely that the leaked Epic Games Store free game for December 25 is right as well, so fans should be able to look forward to adding Darkest Dungeon to their Epic Games Store library on Christmas day.

Darkest Dungeon, for the uninitiated, is an RPG developed by Red Hook Studios. In the game, players have to explore dungeons, fight monsters, and manage a roster of heroes. The game has some roguelike elements in that if a Darkest Dungeon hero dies while exploring dungeons, they are gone forever. Sticking with the roguelike elements, Darkest Dungeon's titular dungeons are procedurally-generated.

Darkest Dungeon earned quite a bit of acclaim when it initially launched, with critics impressed by the dark aesthetic, roguelike elements, and challenging gameplay. Its critical success translated to commercial success, and so fans can look forward to a sequel coming sooner rather than later. At the time of this writing, the Darkest Dungeon sequel is believed to be launching at some point in 2021.

Assuming plans haven't changed, Epic Games Store users can look forward to claiming Darkest Dungeon come December 25. After that, there will be six more games for users to claim, which will likely be My Time at PortiaNight in the WoodsStranded DeepSolitairicaTorchlight 2, and Jurassic World Evolution.
