Although a number of major video game distributors give away free games as an incentive to players, few are as generous as the Epic Games Store. From Just Cause 4 and The Batman Arkham Trilogy to Kingdom Come: Deliverance and even Grand Theft Auto 5the digital PC storefront has become incredibly popular for how willing it is to hand out high-value games.

This is seemingly not stopping any time soon either, with last week's offering of Ark: Survival Evolved now crossing over to a new pair of amazing games. The titles in question are Pathway and The Escapists 2, however, there's been an issue which means the latter will be coming a little further down the line than the former.

According to the Epic Games Store, the release of The Escapists 2 has had to be delayed due to unforeseen complications, with the company assuring players that they're working on it and will update fans as soon as it's claimable. Both games will be available until June 25, so while it's unfortunate that the title won't be available now, players will have a decent amount of time to claim it when it's eventually up on the store.

As for what types of games players can expect when grabbing the free pairing, Pathway is an adventure game that takes place in the 1930s. Players are tasked with uncovering mysteries, raiding tombs, and engaging in squad-centric, turn-based combat, with the focus being solely in strong strategy gameplay. It's currently sitting at a mixed score of 68 on Metacritic, with critics praising its unique concept but claiming it has its fair share of issues. The Escapists 2, on the other hand, is a retro, action-strategy game that sees players attempting to escape a variety of impenetrable prisons, using items, skills, and other techniques to outwit the guards and escape to freedom. It's currently sitting at a respectable 75 on Metacritic, with its distinct gameplay mechanic garnering a lot of love from critics.

With both games available to next week, Epic Games has also listed what players can expect next. Following June 25, Aer Memories of Old and Stranger Things 3: The Game will both be available until July 3, with the pair of games offering vastly different experiences which players will no doubt love. With the world currently stuck in quarantine, it seems many are thankful that Epic Games is distributing such a wide variety of content free of charge. Here's to hoping, there are even more great games to come.
