The Epic Games Store recently revealed the first free games fans can claim once December 2 rolls around, and one of those is an incredibly popular asymmetrical multiplayer game: Dead by Daylight. With constant support and a solid fanbase, it’s a good time for anyone who has thought about getting into it but hasn’t.
However, December is typically a big month for the Epic Games Store. It hasn’t been officially mentioned or revealed yet, but Dead by Daylight may just be the cherry on the cake. If all goes as it has in the past, fans will see a huge selection of games come in December.
Epic Games Story Free Games for the Holidays
For the past couple of years, the Epic Games Store has released a new game every day leading up until January 1st, with this beginning around the middle of the month. Epic Games Store gave away 12 free games in 2019, while it gave away 15 in 2020. Heck, it was even so popular that someone made up a faked Epic Games store free list for the event, something to keep an eye out for this year too. It remains to be seen where this December truly falls, but it’s an exciting time of free games.
Not to mention, while EGS tends to emphasize smaller, more indie titles for its fans, there has been a few zingers every year too. In 2019, for example, fans got Celeste, Superhot, Into The Breach, and Hello Neighbor. The following year saw Alien: Isolation, Metro 2033, Tropico 5, and Hitman 2, with each year having a bunch of games to support the biggest titles too.
So, the big question now is what Epic Games Store plans for December. Fans may be really interested, but the truth is they probably won’t know until the middle of December. This Epic Games Store giveaway is like a present—the surprise is half of it. As such, when it begins, how many games will be given away, and all of that remains up in the air.
The chances of the Epic Games Store following this tradition yet again, though, is pretty high. It’s not impossible that Epic Games Store abandons it, but at the same time, it’s something many EGS users are likely looking forward to. If EGS wasn’t going to end it, it should have already confirmed that by now.
No matter what, though, Dead by Daylight is a good start to the month. What follows will help define the month of course, but if Dead by Daylight is the first title of 12-15+ games given away this year, then it’ll be really interesting to see how EGS maintains that bar.
