For the second half of December 2020, the Epic Games Store has been giving away a free game to its users on a daily basis. This countdown has included quite a variety of games from all different kinds of genres, and now the final game in the lineup has been officially revealed. The Epic Games Store free game for December 31 is, as many fans expected, none other than the business simulation game Jurassic World Evolution.

Fans have known for some time that Jurassic World Evolution would be the Epic Games Store free game for December 31. Shortly after the promotion started, a list of Epic Games Store free games leaked online. And now with Jurassic World Evolution's confirmation, it's clear that the leak was completely legitimate. Every single game mentioned in the leak has been featured as one of the free Epic Games Store games, from Inside to Night in the Woods to today's free game, Jurassic World Evolution.

However, Jurassic World Evolution differs from the other Epic Games Store free games for December 2020 in one key way. Fans only had one day to claim the previous free games, but they have an entire week to claim Jurassic World Evolution. Now that the holiday event is over, it seems the Epic Games Store is switching back to its model of giving away one free game per week instead of one free game per day.

Anyone interested can claim Jurassic World Evolution for their Epic Games Store library between now and January 7 at 8:00am PT. At that point, Jurassic World Evolution will be replaced with a game called Crying SunsCrying Suns, for the uninitiated, is a tactical roguelike game where players take on the role of a space fleet commander. It earned somewhat positive reviews when it originally launched in 2019. It will be available from January 7 until January 14 at 8:00am PT, at which point it will likely be replaced by a new free game.

Next year, it will be interesting to see if the Epic Games Store brings back its free game promotion to count down to the new year. And if it does bring back the promotion, it will also be interesting to see if it does anything to keep the free games secret. Fans will have to wait until next December to find out, but in the meantime, there should be plenty more free Epic Games Store games throughout 2021 to keep them occupied.
