Today, December 29, marks the eleventh day of the Epic Games Store's 12 Days of Free Games promotion, and there is now yet another title available for download at no cost. Indeed, players can currently obtain The Talos Principle for free through Epic's digital storefront, and considering the acclaim that this indie game has received over the years, many players will certainly want to do exactly that.
For those that are unfamiliar with The Talos Principle, it is a narrative-driven puzzle game developed by Croteam. It was first released for Windows, OS X, and Linux in 2014, and since then the title has been made available on Android, PlayStation 4, iOS, Xbox One, and Switch. This means that there is certainly no shortage of ways to play The Talos Principle, but it is not everyday that the game is available for free, making the Epic Games Store's offering something special.
With respect to how long players have to download The Talos Principle at no cost, the Epic Games Store's promotion will end on the morning of December 30. That said, the Steam Winter Sale has the game marked down by 85% through January 2, and thus fans that may miss the title's inclusion in the EGS's 12 Days of Free Game can still pick it up without breaking the bank through the New Year's holiday.
Regarding the game that will replace The Talos Principle in Epic's promotion, that has not been officially announced, but there is a teaser image that has players speculating. Specifically, the image depicts a keyhole, which some fans believe points to Hello Neighbor being the free game for December 30. While this survival horror title has never done well with critics, and is even ranked as one of the worst Switch games on Metacritic, many players would be happy to have the chance to try it out at no cost.
So far, the Epic Games Store's 12 Days of Free Games has given players access to some truly great indie games, including Celeste, FTL: Faster Than Light, and Into the Breach. The Talos Principle is another exceptional pickup for anyone that does not have it, and indeed Epic has spread a great deal of holiday cheer with its special promotion this year.
