The Epic Games Store continues to roll out new features as the development of the young storefront continues. The latest example appears to have been released as a surprise, with Epic Games Store users learning of it as they received its benefit. The new feature is partial refunds offered to game buyers who just missed an Epic Games Store discount.

Twitter user Joshua Boggs, co-founder of game developer Studio Mayday, posted their experience with EGS partial refunds on Twitter. While they didn't reveal what game they purchased or what their refund was, they did share the EGS message about the transaction. It says, "The price of the game(s) you purchased were recently lowered, so we are issuing partial refunds for the difference(s)."

Presumably, Boggs made an EGS purchase prior to the start of the ongoing Epic Mega Sale. The sale is offering discounts of up to 75% off dozens of different titles. Epic then, presumably, went out of its way to automatically grant Boggs the discount he would have gotten if he'd known about the sale.

Exact details aren't clear. For example, Epic's deadline for when it will grant a partial refund, whether it's 15 days, 30 days, or otherwise, isn't publically known. It isn't clear if this is just a special offer just for major sales like the Epic Mega Sale or it if will cover all price cuts and discounts going forward. Hopefully, Epic shares more information soon. But no matter what the scale of the feature, it's a step in the right direction for consumers and the Epic Games Store.
