Right now, Epic Games Store users can dive into Lawn Mowing Simulator for free from the store. This highly-detailed simulator allows players to do just as the title describes and mow lawns. It never received the same virality that PowerWash Simulator briefly enjoyed, but for those who enjoyed incredibly in-depth simulators, it's up there for fans.

Replacing it on August 4 is Unrailed!, a game many Epic Games Store users may not be familiar with. Indeed, Epic Games Store often adds indies to its line-up that could otherwise go unnoticed by fans, sometimes resulting in the discovery of a new favorite game. It's an admirable approach, and here's what anyone unfamilar with Unrailed! needs to know.

Epic Games Store Free Game for August 4 - Unrailed!

Unrail features graphics that are remniscent of the classic 1980s' Frogger mixed with a touch of modern Minecraft, and it is a co-op roguelike multiplayer games where players must construct a railway track. The unique twist here is that players must do so across a huge pool of procedurally generated worlds. There is an endless sandbox players can construct their railway in, teaming up with with three other players for four-player co-op, or there is a roguelike 2v2 game mode.

Teams will have to decide to approach the various elements to constructing the tracks, gathering the required materials, laying out the tracks, and so on. Of course, the procedurally generated worlds mean players must be prepared for the unexpected. Sometimes, there will be a herd of cows preventing construction, natural chokepoints, and/or issues with current track/supply lines. It is possible in Epic Games Stores' new Unrailed! title for the train to burst into flames...because someone did not water it. The worlds also allow for changing environments from grassy greens, snowy mountains, endless deserts, volcanic areas, and otherworldly dimensions. The game ends whenever the trash crashes, forcing players to restart (though there are checkpoints that can be enabled).

It's a unique indie title, and one that could be a lot of fun with friends. Players will be able to access Unrailed! come August 4 at 10am CT on Epic Games Store, and fans will have until the following Thursday, August 11, to claim it.

Epic Games Store users get a handful of free games every month.
