Epic Games is once again giving away its yearly free $10 coupons. As the saying goes though, nothing is for nothing, and this year Epic Games is taking this saying to heart, as users won't be able to merely login and claim their prize this time around.

Epic Games will only allow users to claim their $10 coupon this year if they willingly surrender their email address to be used for marketing emails regarding products, news, events and, promotions. Epic Games is no stranger to offering its users free games, coupons, and surprisingly high discounts most likely to try and draw consumers away from its main competitor and industry giant, Valve's Steam store. As the Epic Games store is offering Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse and Paladins Epic Pack for free this week.

It does, however, make sense that Epic Games finally want something in exchange for all of the money that it has saved consumers over the years, especially considering that the coupons on offer are often reusable multiple times. Many Epic Games users are more than likely already signed up for promotional emails unless they have specifically opted not to be. Users will be able to find this out by checking out the communications tab in their Epic Games account and seeing if the option for email subscriptions is selected or not. These emails may even include some more information about a possible Fortnite movie.

The coupons will be usable on any title costing $14.99 or more which is a rather substantial saving for consumers and will likely be welcomed considering the plethora of new releases that come out at this time of year. The coupon can unfortunately only be claimed on the Epic Games store between now and November 15 and can also only be used during this time period as well. It is unclear as of right now as to whether or not Epic Games will also offer its regular yearly coupon, however, with the Epic Games Halloween sale launching on October 18 this might not matter in any case. In keeping with the Halloween theme it was a rather tongue in cheek move to have Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse as one of the free games for Halloween.

This is an interesting move by Epic Games considering that some gamers have boycotted titles that have released exclusively on the platform in the past. Epic Games recently also made another bold move by allowing games featuring cryptocurrency and blockchain to appear on its store provided companies follow its terms and conditions. Some consumers may not take too kindly to having their inboxes full of Epic Games promotional offers and will likely not be signing up to claim their coupon but others will likely gladly accept the $10 reward.
