Game of Thrones and Solo: A Star Wars Story star Emilia Clarke has said that she would love to spend a decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Clarke is attached to the upcoming Secret Invasion series from Marvel Studios, which will follow the popular comic book storyline in which shape-shifting aliens invade, disguised as the world's most powerful heroes.

Secret Invasion was a limited series/8-issue crossover that ran during the year 2008. The arc saw the Avengers battling against the Skrulls, who can shapeshift and pretended to be the heroes in order to get them to turn on each other. This comic had the Fantastic Four as part of the cast of characters and they were pivotal to the plot since Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic was the one to help figure out a way to beat the Skrulls. There's no telling if Marvel/Disney will follow this storyline accurately or do their own unique telling of it, similar to the way they re-told the Civil War storyline.

Captain America: Civil War had a lot fewer heroes than the comic version and didn't follow the source material accurately, yet it did well amongst fans in terms of reception. It brought fans' first look at the MCU's Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Zemo. With that being said, there's no telling if the Fantastic Four will be pivotal in the Secret Invasion plot, but fans should rest assured that the series will likely be done well based on Marvel's track record. As for what the future holds for Clarke's Secret Invasion character beyond the series, the actress could only tell The Hollywood Reporter that she is more than willing to play an ongoing role in the MCU. "I mean, I should be so lucky is what I’ll say to that,” Clarke said. “Everyone I know and everyone I’ve spoken to who is a part of the Marvel universe — and actors talk! Everyone has only the highest praise to offer. There’s a reason why actors stay in it. They’re so loved because they’re having loads of fun. So I’m down for that."

Emilia Clarke Secret Invasion Skrull

The part that may confuse fans is that the Skrulls were already introduced in the recent Captain Marvel film. We saw the shapeshifting abilities, but the Skrulls ended up being allies to the side of the Earth. Fans only saw Nick Fury be replaced on Earth in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but this was voluntary as well as for comical reasons since fans saw the real Fury vacationing and taking a break from his duties of saving the world. Many are wondering if there are other Skrulls out there who have gone rogue or if the Skrulls have been putting on a facade this whole time.

Having Clarke on board will be a nice addition to the ever-growing Marvel cast and it sounds like she'll be joined in Secret Invasion by some heavy-hitters like Olivia Colman. Plus, if she's down to be a part of the MCU for the long run, that's even better.

However, it's important to know that at the end of the day these stars have families, outside responsibilities, and personal lives that don't revolve around filming. So it's always important to show them respect if they should ever need to walk away.

Secret Invasion is currently in pre-production.
