Although Felix "Pewdiepie" Kjellberg remains a contentious figure in the world of YouTube, his popularity is massive, and that influence has now led to having Elon Musk host an episode in his popular Meme Review series. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO was also joined by a co-creator of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland.

For context, Pewdiepie's fans clamored to have Musk host the YouTube show for months. Back in October, Musk confirmed that he would host the show, but no one actually believed it to be true until February 1, 2019. He told a fan on Twitter that it was happening, and sure enough, Musk appeared in the latest video.

Despite the video being entitled "Will Smith hosts Meme Review," make no mistake that it is Musk. He appears around the 13:00 mark where he proceeds to review memes on YouTube alongside Roiland, with some of the memes actually making references to Musk himself. Musk even goes on to mention the sensation of seeing himself in a meme and how last year took him to "Meme City." It's also somewhat befitting that Pewdiepie reviews some memes of the Mars Opportunity Rover, given Musk's position in the realm of space travel.

For obvious reasons, this video is the #1 trending video on YouTube, gathering over 7 million views and 900,000 thumbs up in just one day. For the most part, this could be contributed to the popularity of Musk as a cultural figure, with several in the gaming community knowing him to also be an avid gamer. Many may recall, in fact, last year when he referred to Twitter, his seemingly preferred form of social media, as the Dark Souls of the medium.

Pewdiepie, at one point in the above video, implies that Elon Musk hosting a Meme Review show could be the final nail in the coffin for his viewer war with trending channel, T-series. That remains to be seen, but for now, Pewdiepie and Elon Musk are the spotlights of YouTube, which may very well need some positive attention after the most recent apocalypse for the video sharing platform.
