Apple and Epic Games have been embroiled in a legal battle for a while now, and several people have voiced their opinions on the matter. Elon Musk recently decided to step in and say what he thinks about the situation, and it's a big win for Epic.

Elon Musk has given his two cents on many things over the last several years and he recently took to Twitter to discuss Apple and its App Store fees. According to Musk, Apple's App Store fees are a "de facto global tax on the Internet" and Epic Games is right. Although Epic Games has also been involved in a lawsuit with Google over its Play Store, Musk hasn't been so critical of that company yet.

Epic Games started the Free Fortnite campaign last year when the company began its legal battle with Apple and Google. The lawsuit specifically concerned fees on both platforms, with Apple keeping the lion's share. In total, Apple was making $100 million from Fortnite being on the App Store and since the lawsuit began, it hasn't been making that.

One follower of Elon Musk took this opportunity to suggest that the billionaire work on a Tesla Phone and several other Twitter users agreed. Another tried to call Musk out for using iPhone's in the past, pointing out that the very tweet criticizing Apple's App Store was sent from an iPhone. While Musk isn't above cheeky sarcasm, his strong stance on this issue suggests he sides with Epic.

Several Elon Musk fans responded to the billionaire with Dogecoin enthusiasm, notable due to Musk's involvement with the cryptocurrency. Another suggested a Tesla app store with its own rules and regulations to compete with Apple and Google. Another Twitter user specifically said that the best way to get beyond Apple and Google is to create an open mobile infrastructure that integrates cryptocurrency on the operating system level.

While several Elon Musk followers are looking for ways to expand cryptocurrency, others see the humor in the idea of Musk and Epic joining forces. One Twitter user suggested a brand new Fortnite Icon Series skin that features the CEO of Tesla himself and perhaps the addition of one of the vehicles to the battle royale. Others simply utilized the opportunity to ask Musk about the vehicles themselves.

Although many Elon Musk followers may be enthusiastic about the billionaire getting into the mobile industry, he hasn't confirmed a move in that direction. His recent tweet may just be a way of throwing his name out as an ally of Epic Games. Musk isn't involved in the lawsuits filed by Epic Games and is merely pointing out the accuracy of Epic's allegations about monopolistic practices.
