One of the most prominent theories that are currently circulating the web involves the possible arrival of the Young Avengers to the MCU. It all started with the introduction of Billy and Tommy Maximoff in WandaVision, two brothers from the comics who eventually become members of the Young Avengers under the monikers Wiccan and Speed, respectively. After their MCU debut, fans began to speculate that Marvel could soon be assembling the iconic team for a future project, and Elizabeth Olsen has some thoughts about that.

When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, every detail, no matter how big or small, can serve as an indicator of grander things to come. Sometimes, it's as obvious as a post-credits scene that sets up a brand new story arc, and other times it's a much more subtle clue that somehow ties to a greater scheme. After more than a decade of exposure to Marvel Studios' signature technique of plot weaving and connected storylines, fans now know to pay very close attention to anything that could hint at a future development within the MCU, and Olsen noted that this is often a means of leaving no door closed.

Olsen commented on the Young Avengers rumors during a recent Q/A with the New York Film Academy, saying that Marvel is likely to "keep all their options open." While she has no idea whether or not Kevin Feige will move forward with a Young Avengers project, she did say that there's a chance it could happen. "It seems from my perspective that that could be a possibility, but I don't think they have a real plan for that yet," she said. Given that Marvel Studios takes a phased approach to content development, it could be that the studio is just waiting to get through Phase 4 first before entertaining a Young Avengers project.

Marvel's Young Avengers

That said, Feige did recently hint at the possibility of seeing the Young Avengers in the MCU. Adding to the intrigue is the season finale of Loki, which was recently released on Disney Plus this month. During the episode, Kang the Conqueror (a.k.a. He Who Remains) was introduced as the new Phase 4 villain. However, fans were quick to recall that in the comic books, the character also has ties to Nathaniel Richards, a.k.a. Iron Lad, the founder of the Young Avengers.

Additionally, other Young Avengers such as Stature (Cassie Lang), Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), and America Chavez are set to make their MCU debuts via upcoming Marvel titles as well. So, it wouldn't be so farfetched to assume that Marvel is working on a Young Avengers project.

WandaVision and Loki are now streaming on Disney Plus.
