ELEX 2 was only announced back in the summer and fans will be thrilled to know that they won’t have to wait all that long to get their hands on this long-awaited sequel. As confirmed on the game’s official Twitter account, ELEX 2 is scheduled to release within the first quarter of 2022, specifically on March 1st.

The announcement reiterates that the game will be available across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, which is perfect for those who are still struggling to get their hands on one of the newer consoles. Pre-orders for the game are now live and can be found through the official ELEX 2 website.

Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Piranha Bytes have also announced a Collector’s Edition of ELEX 2, but pre-orders for that aren’t available yet. A US price hasn’t been confirmed either, with the only price available being the one on the European THQ Nordic store, where it’s listed at €149.99.

As for what is actually in the Collector’s Edition, it comes with the game itself, a 9.2-inch figurine of a member of the Albs (one of the main factions of the original ELEX returning for the sequel), a CD containing the official soundtrack, an artbook, a 2-inch Cleric Amulet keychain, a steelbook, and a concept album titled Cassandra by Björn Pankratz, who worked as a composer for the first ELEX game. According to the announcement, the Collector’s Edition will release on the same day as the Standard Edition, which doesn’t come with any sort of extras or pre-order bonuses.

There are certainly high expectations for ELEX 2. Not only does it promise to improve the first game’s combat gameplay, but it will also offer unprecedented freedom of movement thanks to a jetpack à la Anthem and a story and characters impacted and influenced by the player’s decisions. The various NPCs throughout ELEX 2’s world can either join or leave the player’s group depending on what choices are made and there will even be permadeath for these characters.

THQ Nordic certainly has a strong and exciting line-up of future releases. Aside from several unannounced projects, its showcase event from September revealed some new surprises alongside a story trailer for ELEX 2. The previously leaked remake of Destroy All Humans! 2 was made official and there will even be an entirely new SpongeBob SquarePants video game called The Cosmic Shake.

ELEX 2 releases for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 1st, 2022.
