The Nintendo Switch has received a pretty healthy amount of third party support so far, much more than other Nintendo consoles have gotten since the early 2000s. However, there are still some major publishers that haven't released many titles on the console for various reasons. This includes EA, a games industry giant that apparently isn't that interested in bringing their games to the system.

According to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, a "great many" of Switch owners also own an Xbox One, PS4, or PC, and would rather play EA's games there than on the Switch. Wilson elaborated that the company has a few questions it asks itself when deciding which platforms to put games on, primarily focusing on whether or not the game is a good fit with the console's ecosystem and community. According to EA's data, gamers tend to gravitate towards their home consoles more than the Switch when it comes to EA's games, so it doesn't make a lot of sense for the company to port titles there.

Of course, the history of EA games on the Switch has been rocky thus far, which probably doesn't help. FIFA 1had multiple features cut from the Switch version that were present in other ports, not to mention the far inferior graphics. Though it does seem like some games, such as The Sims - which originally prompted the questioning of why EA games aren't appearing on the system - make perfect sense for the console and should make their way to it.

The Nintendo Switch was the best selling console of 2018, so there is a solid install base of players that would likely be willing to play EA games on the system if the ports were higher quality. Plus, EA could always port over last generation games like the Mass Effect trilogy, which would likely see healthy sales numbers on the system given the popularity of the first three games in the series.

All in all, other companies have found a solid amount of success on the system, and it seems like EA should be able to too. Bethesda has even given itself partial credit for the Switch's success, with the company believing that its convincing people to buy the hybrid console with their ports. Hopefully, EA will reconsider its position and port over more games to the system. It may be hard to convince them given their data, but that just means it's up to fans to vote with their wallets.
