It goes without saying that The Elder Scrolls Online is a big game. According to Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls Online is the most popular multi-platform MMORPG, which makes sense given the series' pedigree.

It's not only the playerbase that's large, but the world itself. The Elder Scrolls Online is filled with interesting locales, both from previous Elder Scrolls titles and places original to the MMO.

But an expansive world isn't worth much if there isn't enough to do in it. Thankfully, The Elder Scrolls Online isn't all combat. There's also crafting, homesteading, and alchemy.

Elder Scrolls Online's Alchemy

The Elder Scrolls Online has plenty of potions players can choose from. Players should familiarize themselves with the alchemy system early.

Players get their alchemy certificaiton, alongside crafting, enchanter, and provisioner certification, from a dark elf NPC named Danel Telleno. Players can find him in most Mages Guildhalls. Before contacting him, players should check which type of ESO's crafting is best suited for their character class.

For prospective alchemists, Danel will ask the player to craft a Sip of Health, which is Elder Scrolls Online's simplest healing potion. Thankfully, the recipe isn't complicated. It only requires three ingredients.

Simplest Sip of Health Recipe

Sip of Health doesn't have an exclusive recipe. That is to say, it isn't a recipe that can be made with only three very specific ingredients. There are multiple combinations of ingredients that will end with the same item, albeit with different effects.

Every recipe involves two ingredients and a reagent, such as purified water or star dew. For the Sip of Health, the reagent must be natural water. Anything else will result in a tincture or stronger, instead of a sip. This is useful, but won't complete the certificaiton.

The easiest verison to craft involves natural water, columbine, and mountain flowers. Each of the ingredients can be found in almost every zone. The only exception is that columbine doesn't grow in Coldharbour.

Other Sip of Health Combinations

Any combination of the two ingredients listed below and natural water will create a Sip of Health:

  • Blue Entoloma
  • Butterfly Wings
  • Columbine
  • Crimson Nirnroot
  • Luminous Russula
  • Mountain Flower
  • Water Hyacinth

There are a few exceptions that will make something else, however. For example, crimson nirnroot and water hyacinth will make a spell critical potion instead. Players should have more ingredients than they need before starting to craft, in case they accidentally stumble upon a different potion than intended.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
