Psijic Loremaster Celarus is one of the Patrons that Elder Scrolls Online players are given for free upon completing the introductory Tales of Tribute questline. This deck is all about information, and using and manipulating that information to your advantage.

There are a few strategies to using the Celarus deck in Elder Scrolls Online's newest card game, but typically speaking it works better when paired with other Patrons. Thanks to its unique draw deck manipulation effects, it's not a bad idea to go for three Patrons, as you can reliably set up multiple combos with the Psijic cards' abilities.

Psijic Loremaster Celarus: Patron Overview

Elder Scrolls Online Summerset Chapter Overview Psijic Order
  • Favored: Pay 4 Coin to knock out one of your opponent's active Agents
  • Neutral: Pay 4 Coin to knock out one of your opponent's active Agents and gain Favored status
  • Unfavored: Pay 4 Coin to knock out one of your opponent's active Agents and turn the Patron Neutral

Psijic Loremaster Celarus is the leader of the Psijic Order during the events of Elder Scrolls Online, and can be met in-game at the Isle of Artaeum in the Summerset Chapter. In fact, he is someone who players interact with regularly throughout the Psijic Order questline.

The Psijic Order is able to see future events and exists outside of normal time, and as such their Tales of Tribute deck is all about foresight and altering your deck before you even draw from it. At each tier of their assassin-like Patron ability, players can knock out one of their opponent's Agents for 4 Coin, though this ability is easy to play around as one can avoid using Agents pretty easily.

Playing the Psijic deck is all about using information to set up optimal hands, but in a different way than the Hunding deck. While Ansei Frandar Hunding's cards use the Cooldown pile to set up future hands, Psijic Loremaster Celarus' deck lets players look at the next cards they will draw and decide which to remove, thereby trimming less useful cards. The information game is powerful in deckbuilding games like Tales of Tribute, and the Psijic cards are the best for planning ahead and ensuring combos in the turns to come.

RELATED: Elder Scrolls Online: How To Start The High Isle ChapterThe Augur's Counsel Contract card is cheap and lets you get a start on setting up combos early, and the Combo 2 on the card itself is pretty useful. The Dreaming Cave is essentially a better version of it that gives card draw and an additional card to look at - plus, it's not a Contract card. Scrying Globe is very cheap and should be your first choice early in the game if you're going for a Psijic deck. Psijic Relicmaster is an Agent with decent defense and a great activated ability, while the Prophesy card doesn't cost much and gives you lots of Coin and control at the same time.

Strategies And Synergies With Other Patrons

Success with the Psijic deck depends on your ability to see ahead and plan your Combos before they happen. Because these cards let players so effectively sort through their draw deck, look to pair the Psijic deck cards with another color that has good high-tier combos.

The Rahjin deck has lots of cards that are only truly effective if you can set up a Combo beforehand, as the real strength of his best cards come from these special abilities. For instance, two Agents in the deck do nothing when played, but alter the battlefield in some way when Comboed. Saint Pelin cards can stack to build ridiculous amounts of Strength each turn, which the Psijic deck enables. The Duke of Crows lets players draw the cards they don't choose to send to the Cooldown pile, giving near-free choice over what card you want in your hand next.

Avoid using Ansei Frandar Hunding cards with the Psijic deck as their abilities clash. They both accomplish much the same thing, organizing the draw deck to set up optimal plays, but Ansei puts cards from the Cooldown into the draw deck while the Psijic deck does the opposite.
