Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle introduces two new Companions to the game for a total of four who players can find and add to their party. In the Blackwood Chapter players could only choose between two, Bastian and Mirri, and having more options is good for players who want to try new ESO Companions with new personalities and characteristics.

While Isobel the Breton is good in close-range roles, Ember the Khajiit is more tuned for ranged DPS and Support. She is unique as she doesn't care what the player does as long as they don't get caught, and her backstory and companion questline make her one of Elder Scrolls Online's most memorable additions in the High Isle Chapter.

Ember the Khajit: Passives, Abilities, Likes, and Dislikes

Ember is an apprentice Sorcerer who was raised in poverty, doing anything to make ends meet. As such, she is the only Companion in Elder Scrolls Online who does not mind if the player performs criminal acts in front of them, including murder. What she does mind, however, is being caught in the act.

As a Sorcerer, or rather a Sorcerer-in-training, Ember is tuned more for ranged DPS than other roles as a companion. Her three skill trees are oriented around crowd control and ranged attacks, though there are a few healing spells in there that can be good for turning her into a Support companion.

Companion Passives and Abilities

Ember the Khajiit's passive ability is Ember's Intuition. With Ember summoned, players have a small chance to find extra Wallets while pickpocketing, a fitting bonus for a Companion who doesn't care about being a criminal. Her unique racial ability is Cunning, which increases her overall Damage and Critical Chance by 3%.

The Lightning Caller skill tree offers a variety of damaging Shock and Magic spells, while the Mischievous Caster skill tree gives her self-buffs and close-range AoE as well as two ways to handicap foes. The Playful Schemer skill tree gives Ember two ways to protect her allies and a very useful cooldown-reducing spell called Second Wind. Ultimately, she's most suited for DPS, but with the right selection of skills she can be a powerful Support and crowd control specialist too.

Rapport Guide For Ember - Likes and Dislikes

The fastest way to get Ember to like you is by completing Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, and High Isle Delve daily quests. Each of these activities increases Rapport with Ember by a massive 125, but can only be done once each day. She also likes when players kill Wolf-type enemies, play Tales of Tribute, commit non-violent crimes, and otherwise evade and mess with the local Law Enforcement. She also likes when players complete other tasks for the Thieves Guild, like Tip Board quests and fencing high-tier items.

Ember does not like players who get caught red-handed. If the player is seen by a guard in the middle of pickpocketing, stealing, trespassing, or killing an innocent, her Rapport goes down by 10. She doesn't like when players get killed by Guards, either, but she especially hates when players pay off their bounty. If the player pays off their bounty rather than flee from the Guards, they lose a huge 25 Rapport.

How To Get Ember the Khajiit in Elder Scrolls Online

Ember can only be acquired in High Isle, as part of the eponymous High Isle Chapter. It is not included with ESO Plus as it is the most recent expansion to the game, and players must purchase the Chapter on its own to be able to get to Ember at all. Once in High Isle, head north from Gonfalon Bay and look for a place called Tor Draioch just a little ways past the bridge.

Near Tor Draioch players can see Ember standing by the road. Talk to her here to begin her introductory questline "Tower Full of Trouble", which sees players help her return everything to normal before the Magister returns to Tor Draioch. After completing this quest, players gain the ability to summon Ember as their companion.
