Since it debuted back in 2014, The Elder Scrolls Online has consistently received new expansions, updates, and DLC chapters. Those chapters have taken players across the continent of Tamriel, sending them to exotic locations like Elswyr and Morrowind. Now, a new chapter called High Isle is on the way, which will focus on a Mediterranean-inspired archipelago and the Bretons that inhabit it. Of course, it wouldn't be an Elder Scrolls Online reveal without a cinematic trailer to go along with it.

The trailer itself is the typical ESO fare, this time focusing on the political intrigue and assassinations that define High Isle. It shows a hooded Breton navigating Gonfalon Bay, which the dev team describes as the "center point of the political dealings of High Isle." The Breton is apparently a member of The Ascendant Order, which has "chaotic" aspirations in the region.

High Isle's narrative will follow a promising new chapter in Elder Scrolls Online, as delegates from each of the three primary factions travel to the Systres Archipelago, where High Isle is located, for peace talks that could end the Three Banners War. The peace talks are hosted by the Society of the Steadfast, with The Ascendant Order apparently serving as the primary antagonists of the expansion, at least as far as has been announced.

The Mediterranean setting is a decent bit different from the content players have seen before, with prior expansions focusing on the snowy reaches of Skyrim, desert sands of Elsweyr, and alien landscapes of Morrowind. Elder Scrolls has never strayed from political intrigue, either, but it's a focus for a expansion pack.

Last year, The Elder Scrolls Online added companions, with two new ones coming alongside the High Isle chapter. The first is Ember, a Khajit that grew up on the streets and "has a knack for magic," and Isabel, a Breton and with Knightly aspirations. In addition to the two new companions, Elder Scrolls Online is adding a new card game called Tales of Tribute, which has its own storyline. The card game will feature both PvE and PvP modes, and focus on resource building. Players will also be able to earn rewards through the mode, such as furnishings and transmute stones.

High Isle is set to launch later this year, though it will be a slow rollout between platforms. PC, Mac, and Stadia will be the first to get the new DLC on June 6, while console players get access to the new content on June 21. The extra two weeks might be a bit rough for some console players, though it's become pretty standard.

The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle will release on June 6 for PC, Mac, and Stadia, and June 21 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
