With every new Elder Scrolls Online Chapter comes a bunch of new collectible mounts and pets, typically designed to reflect the expansion's setting and theme. The High Isle Chapter lets players ride or adventure alongside lots of oceanic creatures and other animals that call the golden, rolling hills of High Isle home.
Some of these new Elder Scrolls Online mounts and pets are tied to achievements, like the Stormsurge Howler, while others can be earned by completing specific objectives in the world, like the Coral Haj Mota. The Chapter's new Crown Crate, the Dark Chivalry Crate, offers players a few new mounts and pets as rare drops, too.
Pet: Hermit Crab
The Hermit Crab can be found naturally throughout High Isle, and though players can't find or earn one out in the world, one can be bought from the Crown Store or with Crown Gems. These tiny guys are easy to miss when adventuring throughout High Isle's coastline as they blend into their surroundings surprisingly well.
The Hermit Crab can be purchased from the in-game Crown Store for 2000 Crowns, or via the Crate Gem store for 40 Crown Gems.
Mount: Palefrost Elk
The Palefrost Elk is a majestic mount that is sure to attract attention from players without one. It glows a ghostly white and emits a faint particle effect, almost as if it were riding through its own personal cloud of frosty fog.
The Palefrost Elk was included with the pre-purchase edition of the Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle Chapter, and can only be acquired by buying this special edition of the game. It is worth noting that there is a non-combat pet version of the Palefrost Elk in the Palefrost Elk Fawn, also earned for pre-purchasing the chapter.
Pet: Coral Haj Mota
Various Haj Mota can be found throughout Tamriel, but they are especially numerous throughout High Isle and Amenos. The Coral Haj Mota noncombat pet is a smaller, yet much more elegant and elaborately designed, version of one of these enemies.
This noncombat pet is earned for collecting items throughout the High Isle Chapter's two new Public Dungeons. In Ghost Haven Bay, players must collect 25 Coral Haj Mota Lures. In the Spire of the Crimson Coin, players must collect 25 Coral Haj Mota Decoys.
Mount: Stormsurge Howler
The Stormsurge Howler is an elemental mount that looks something like a cross between the Amenos Ornaug mount, included with the High Isle Chapter Collector's Edition, and a Storm Atronach. It's vibrant, glows with a crackling lightning effect, and signals to other players that you're a true ESO pro thanks to its incredibly difficult requirements.
To earn the Stormsurge Howler, players must earn every single achievement in the Dreadsail Reef Trial included with High Isle. This isn't limited to just the normal mode achievements, either, as players must clear it on Veteran Hardmode and earn those achievements as well.
Pet: The Cat In Gonfalon Bay
There is a cat in Gonfalon Bay who, when approached, can be interacted with to trigger a special cutscene. The camera pans around to see the player beckon the cat to jump onto them and be pet - after a few seconds the cat is put back. This cat, named Warmseeker, is found right outside the entrance to Gonfalon Bay's Artisan building.
While this isn't technically a noncombat pet, it's worth mentioning as a unique encounter in Elder Scrolls Online that many players probably missed. What it means for the game nobody knows, but some have theorized it could be a test for expanded character animations in ESO's future chapters.
Mount: Luminous Meridian Charger
The Luminous Meridian Charger is truly a spectacle to behold. It takes the shape of a spectral steed with golden Elven armor that just barely contains its wild energy-like form. It's bright, easy to see, and makes a statement in any area you ride it in.
The Luminous Meridian Charger doesn't come cheap, though. In fact, it's only available through the Crown Gem store for 2500 Gems or Seals of Endeavor or as a rare drop from Dark Chivalry Crown Crates. Be prepared to spend a long time farming resources to buy this mount, unless you feel lucky and want to try opening some Crown Crates instead.
Pet: Heartland Butcher's Dog
The Heartland Butcher's Dog is the next in the long list of dogs making their way to Elder Scrolls Online. This dog, which looks like somewhere between a Rottweiler and a Boxer, is said to have earned its name after originally being used as guard dogs before their owners realized they weren't doing much guarding and were doing a lot more looking at food.
The Heartland Butcher's Dog, like the Luminous Meridian Charger, is found in the High Isle Chapter's Dark Chivalry crates, though at a much higher drop rate. It can also be bought directly for a paltry 40 Crown Gems or 2000 Seals of Endeavor.
