The Elder Scrolls Online is gearing up for its annual Witches Festival where players can celebrate the spookiest time of the year with unique rewards. The Elder Scrolls Online players can enjoy a special seasonal polymorph and massive XP boosts thanks to a free quest, while other items can be earned to claim festive rewards.

Similar to many other MMORPGs, The Elder Scrolls Online features a variety of seasonal events that coincide with real-world festivities while also hosting a number of events unique to the story and world of Tamriel. The game's New Life Festival and Jester's Festival celebrate the New Year and April Fools holidays respectively, while the Anniversary Jubilee marks the game's launch anniversary and the mid-year Whitestrake's Mayhem event celebrates Pelinal Whitestrake's victory against the Ayleids. Seasonal events are an important feature for MMORPGs, helping their worlds feel more dynamic as time passes while also being a source of joy when players can celebrate their favorite holidays together in-game.

The Elder Scrolls Online's October event is its annual Witches Festival, this year beginning on Thursday, October 20 at 10 AM EDT and running until Wednesday, November 2 at 10 AM EDT. To kick off the main event, players should navigate to the Crown Store and pick up the free quest "The Witchmother's Bargain," or pick it up in person by visiting the Crow Caller outside Olyve's Brewery in Stonefalls, Glenumbra, or Auridon. Completing the introductory quest will reward players with the Witchmother's Whistle, which provides a two-hour +100% XP buff on use while spawning a cauldron that produces a skeleton polymorph upon use.

Defeating bosses in The Elder Scrolls Online during the event will reward players with Plunder Skull containers which have a chance of yielding a number of festival-themed rewards. Crafting motifs, furnishing and provisioning recipes, various creepy items like worms, crawlers, guts and insect parts, and other goodies can be earned from each successful encounter. Upon defeating a boss type for the first time each day, players also receive a Dremora Plunder Skull that contains all-new rewards such as the Ghastly Visitation memento and a tradable style page for the Witchmother's Servant equipment style.

Two Event Tickets can be earned from the first boss defeated each day, allowing for a total of 28 during the event. It's important to note that players can only carry 12 at a time, so players should be sure to spend them before going over the limit. Event Tickets can be redeemed at the Impresario to purchase various festive rewards. Once the Witches Festival has run its course, players can look forward to the New Life Festival later this year.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Firesong launches on November 15 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
