Players of The Elder Scrolls series have probably heard an outline of how vampires came to be in Tamriel. Very few have heard it from the source itself. In The Elder Scrolls Online, if players become a vampire, they get to meet the very first vampire in existence: Lamae Bal. Lamae Bal was a Nedic priest for the Divine of Life and Death, Arkay, during the Merethic Era. In the crypt, Lamae explains to players how she became the first vampire and shows bits of her past.

During the main quest, the players will see memories of Count Verandis Ravenwatch, an Altmer vampire. Verandis had tried to use the relic to heal a friend, Baroness Leila Montclair, but didn't know that the relic was tainted.

This is a Dwemer ruin that was repurposed for Exarch Tzinghalis to perform his experiments. Exploring the tower shows that Tzinghalis experimented on a lot of people. It is unclear if they were vampires or werewolves, or a mix of both, because of how badly their bodies were burned.

Stone Husks are also in the tower and Tzinghalis used them in his experiments as well. If this place doesn't sound and look frightening enough, then the agonizing screams of Fennorian might do it as players rush to rescue him.

After finding the ingredients, the player will find and be attacked by a zombie-like Grida at a mill. ESO Creepiest Places Forgotten Crypts

She ran into a group of refugees that sealed themselves away to escape the Llodos plague. Sela can either stay in the crypt to wait or be told to wait outside. The leader of the group, Danus, cryptically tells the player that he and the other refugees are doing what they can to survive. He sealed away Garil because he showed symptoms of the plague. Garil is found, but it is too late as the plague has taken over him. His journal can be found and it reveals a shocking secret about the refugees.

It turns out the refugees have resorted to cannibalism to survive. When confronted about it, Danus doesn't deny it and justifies the choice. The players can choose to either burn the meat that the refugees have stored, or leave them in peace.
