If there's one place nobody wants to be trapped in, it's one of the realms of Oblivion. The Daedric Princes, primarily malevolent beings who often enjoy meddling in the affairs of mortals, each command their own frightening domain. Over the years, fans have had the displeasure of visiting some of these dangerous locales.

Not every realm of Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls is made equally. Each one reflects the personality of its overlord. Although some are more nightmarish than others, they're still generally not places where one should spend too much time. In the end, it may be the last trip someone takes.

16 Azura's Realm – Moonshadow

Moonshadow Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls

If one really must travel to Oblivion, Moonshadow may not be the worst place to visit. It's the realm of Azura, the Prince of Dusk and Dawn. According to supposed eyewitness accounts, Moonshadow is a place of incalculable beauty. Travelers have reportedly gone half-blind from experiencing the daedric realm.

Azura herself is said to reside in a rose palace. Other features of Moonshadow include innumerable flowers, waterfalls, and a city made from silver. It's certainly not the most hopeless to be stranded, although angering the Prince herself may not be a great idea.

15 Boethiah's Realm

Boethiah's Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls Online

The realm of the Daedric Prince of Plots doesn't possess a special name. Nevertheless, in-game lore books do describe some of the realm's features. Players also witness parts of Boethiah's Realm in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls Online.

It's a location filled with dark, stormy skies as well as a volcanic landscape. Lava flows across the land in massive rivers. This Prince's realm is also said to contain numerous mazes and labyrinths, reflecting the byzantine nature of Boethiah. Savage tournaments held in the Prince's honor are a staple feature as well.

14 Clavicus Vile's Realm – The Fields Of Regret

The Fields Of Regret Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls Online

The Fields of Regret is an apt name that describes Clavicus Vile himself. Vile is one of the more dangerous Princes a mortal can come across. He's a Mephistophelean character, offering mortals seemingly attractive deals they later come to regret.

Players have the opportunity to visit the Fields of Regret in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online. It appears idyllic, containing an abundance of trees, lakes, and mountains. The Skaafin, Vile's daedric servants, populate this realm.

13 Hermaeus Mora's Realm – Apocrypha

Apocrypha Oblivion Realm From Skyrim

Apocrypha is a realm of Oblivion few ever manage to emerge from. Hermaeus Mora is the Daedric Prince of Forbidden Knowledge and lords over his eldritch domain of books and tomes with a watchful gaze. It's a horrific place composed of black ink and disgusting tentacles.

In a sense, Apocrypha is a place of damnation for eager scholars looking to find answers. Once ensnared, however, they forever roam the halls of Apocrypha, shells of their former selves. The towers of books that dot the landscape are too enticing to leave behind. Few willingly wish to leave before finding the answers they seek. In the end, they never do.

12 Hircine's Realm – The Hunting Grounds

The Hunting Grounds From The Elder Scrolls Online

Hircine's realm can simultaneously be seen as a dream and a nightmare for hunters. On the one hand, the Prince's realm offers an unending opportunity to test one's skill in the hunt. Limitless amounts of creatures, both large and small, populate the Hunting Grounds.

Conversely, the hunter can also easily become the hunted. It's said that those who die in the Hunting Grounds are doomed to stay there for eternity. This paradise can just as easily become a realm of perdition. The land itself is characterized by dense woodlands and lush grasslands. A special event, known as the Great Hunt, is a regular occurrence in Hircine's realm.

11 Malacath's Realm – Ashpit

The Ashpit Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls

Malacath's realm, the Ashpit, is just as tough and unforgiving as the Orcs themselves. As its name suggests, this land is one of unending smoke and dust. As such, few mortals ever reach this realm, considering the very air is choked with malign vapor.

Orcs, however, regard the Ashpit a bit differently. They view it as a land of paradise, where every Orc gets to be a chief. Malacath purportedly resides in the Ashen Forge, a structure made of stone walls and iron towers. Mortals are right to avoid this realm of ash and dust.

10 Mehrunes Dagon's Realm – The Deadlands

The Deadlands Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls Online

Fans are probably a little too familiar with the Deadlands. It serves as one of the primary locations of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and, more recently, in The Elder Scrolls Online. To say this place is harsh and unforgiving would be an understatement.

The Deadlands reflect the Prince of Destruction rather well. Lava and volcanoes can be found everywhere. Towering spires, filled with all manner of macabre horror, perforate the landscape. Dagon's savage daedric servants, such as scamps and dremora, also roam the land. In every sense, it's a place of unending suffering.

9 Mephala's Realm – The Spiral Skein

The Spiral Skein Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls Online

Mephala, the Daedric Prince of Murder, Lies, and Deception, rules over another nightmarish realm. It's a place that arachnophobes may want to avoid. Spiders and other creepy-crawlies call this dark and gloomy landscape their home.

The flora and fauna of the Spiral Skein are quite odd. A various selection of strange mushrooms, crystals, and coral compose the land itself. A huge complex, known as the Tower, sits at its center. Presumably, this is where Mephala herself resides. The Spokes of this structure are each devoted to some form of sin, such as murder and envy. Unsurprisingly, every room is more horrific than the last.

8 Meridia's Realm – The Colored Rooms

The Colored Rooms Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls Online

The Lady of Light, Prince Meridia, is one of the few Daedric Lords not considered entirely malevolent. Her extreme disdain for necromancy and the undead sometimes makes her an ally of more noble-minded mortals. The Colored Rooms reflects her status as a champion of radiance and natural living things.

Her realm is quite unusual, not typically conforming to the laws of physics. Walkable, luminescent water serves as the land. Stone and coral structures float across the sky, leaving behind colorful clouds in their wake. Aurorans serve as Meridia's servants. Much like Moonshadow, it's not the worst place in the universe to be stranded in temporarily.

7 Molag Bal's Realm – Coldharbour

Coldharbour Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls Online

Molag Bal's terrifying realm of Coldharbour is one of the principal locations in The Elder Scrolls Online. He's the Daedric Prince of Domination and Enslavement. Coldharbour reflects those dreary subjects perfectly. It's a desolate land and serves as a nightmarish imitation of Tamriel itself.

Souls unfortunate enough to come within Molag Bal's grasp are doomed to roam Coldharbour endlessly. Since the Prince is also the patron of vampires, their undead souls can be found wandering Coldharbour as well. Its coldness and blackened desolation make it one of the most unforgiving realms of Oblivion in existence.

6 Namira's Realm – The Scuttling Void

The Scuttling Void Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls

Unlike the other realms of Oblivion, very little is known about the Scuttling Void, the home of Prince Namira. Khajiit often refer to it as the Dark Behind the World. It's described as a place of grim forges, where the damned souls of Khajiit live in perpetual corruption.

5 Nocturnal's Realm – Evergloam

The Evergloam Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls Online

As the Mistress of Shadow, Nocturna's realm of Evergloam is a land of perpetual twilight. Interestingly, in addition to the main realm, Evergloam also contains pocket dimensions. Ever-changing and difficult to comprehend, mortals tend to perceive these realms differently. Some features include crypts and tombs, while others consist of jungles and forests.

Nocturnal possesses many followers and supporters. One group, the Nightingales, can be encountered in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Those who pledge their souls to Nocturnal are said to become "Shadows" in Evergloam. Other creatures, such as hags, werewolves, and crow daedra, also inhabit the land.

4 Peryite's Realm – The Pits

The Pits Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion

As far as names go, the Pits don't sound like a great place to spend eternity. Regrettably, specific information concerning the Daedric Prince of Pestilence's realm is rather scarce. Players briefly travel to the Pits in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, where it appears as a carbon copy of the Deadlands. How it looks or who definitively dwells there is currently a mystery.

3 Sanguine's Realm – The Myriad Realms Of Revelry

The Myriad Realms Of Revelry Oblivion Realm From Skyrim

Similar to Evergloam, Sanguine's Myriad Realms of Revelry consist of various pocket dimensions. The number of these sub-realms is implied to be limitless. Each dimension specifically caters to one's own debauched pleasures. Sanguine lords over all of it, periodically enticing mortals to visit these realms and indulge in their dark pleasures.

2 Sheogorath's Realm – The Shivering Isles

The Shivering Isles Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion

The lands of the Madgod are chaotic, unorderly, and unmistakably crazy. The Shivering Isles mirror Sheogorath's own split personality and are divided roughly equally between the regions of Mania and Dementia. Neither one is considered safe, each containing its own brand of danger.

The inhabitants of the Shivering Isles are varied. Sheogorath's servants, the Golden Saints and Dark Seducers, protect the realm as well as the capital city of New Sheoth. Flesh Atronachs, baliwogs, and Elytra are just some of the wildlife one can encounter in the Shivering Isles. The original lord of the Shivering Isles, Jyggalag, reconquers his realm in a cyclical event known as the Greymarch every few thousand years.

1 Vaermina's Realm – Quagmire

Quagmire Oblivion Realm From The Elder Scrolls Online

Out of all the daedric realms, Quagmire must rank as one of the most terrifying. It's the home of Prince Vaermina, the Mistress of Nightmares. Quagmire itself is unique in that it morphs depending on the individual who visits it. A person can experience his most frightening nightmare in an extremely vivid fashion.

Vaermina, certainly one of the more evil Princes, regularly collects the dreams and memories of sleeping beings. In their wake are left nightmares and almost crippling despair. Vaermina supposedly resides within a citadel at the center of Quagmire, though nothing certain is known of its exact nature.
