Skyrim is a week away from turning 10 years old, now, and it remains one of the most successful video game releases of all time. After all, it's not that common for a single-player game to be played for 10 years and get all sorts of editions after the first - and yet, Skyrim did precisely that, with the Anniversary Edition coming in just a few days.

Of course, it's hard to top a game the caliber of Skyrim, even for Bethesda, which made many players hyped for The Elder Scrolls 6 way before its announcement. The first teaser trailer came at E3 2018, but since then the game has gone radio-silent, holding the record of over 1,200 days without a solid update outside of Phil Spencer's comment about Fable 4 likely coming before The Elder Scrolls 6. Fans have been speculating about what its release date could be, and a leak might reveal just that.

In fact, Okami Games shared a Tweet that includes plenty of possible release dates planned for many games, including The Elder Scrolls 6. The leak generated from Nvidia GeForce, which is not new to leaking games and their release dates by accident, and the new document sees The Elder Scrolls 6 releasing on January 2, 2024. It is entirely possible that the date is more of a placeholder than the actual release date, especially because Bethesda's Indiana Jones game is reportedly releasing just one day apart from The Elder Scrolls 6, on January 1, but it could still provide some insight into a general time when fans may be able to expect Elder Scrolls 6.

As such, The Elder Scrolls 6 might be released in 2024, but not necessarily on January 2nd, which is more indicative of what the planned release is going to be. This means that even if the game is slated for release in 2024, it might still be coming no sooner than November or December of the same year for the holiday season.

With Todd Howard stating that The Elder Scrolls 6 was still in the planning phase a few months ago, it's not impossible that there will be delays, too. More importantly, fans should note that Bethesda has a lot on its plate at the moment, with games like Starfield just recently being revealed in more detail despite the release date closing in. Thus, this information is to be taken with a pinch of salt.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development.
