Although there has been next to nothing on The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced, fans seem to think that an Easter egg in Starfield confirmed its settings: High Rock and Hammerfell. Exploring both countries in one game will be interesting, but it'll be even more interesting to see how the playable races of The Elder Scrolls manifest there.

Some are likely to find themselves in similar situations, as the Argonians and Khajiit are treated as second-class citizens (if not worse) practically anywhere outside their home country. However, on the assumption that High Rock and Hammerfell serve as The Elder Scrolls 6's setting, the Nords may be well outside their element.

Nords in Skyrim

Because Skyrim is home to the Nords, players find them in their natural habitat, so to speak. They are embroiled in a civil war against the Empire, which ties back to their roles as warriors, as the majority of Stormcloaks are Nords. The cold doesn't really impact them, and their resistance to cold and magical frost is powerful against many Skyrim enemies, like Frost trolls. Their powerful Battle Cry makes them capable of handling multiple enemies at once, and many of the Nord NPCs in Skyrim look as powerful as their playable counterpart. Still, in their cities, it's easy to see one value often left out of the Nor culture for honor and glory, and that's family. Nords are incredibly tight-knit, and that's easy to see in the many cities of Skyrim.

However, outside the cold, it's worth mentioning that Nords have a natural talent for seafaring. They are typically found on Tamriel's coasts outside of Skyrim, and that will likely have a huge impact on them in The Elder Scrolls 6.

Nords in The Elder Scrolls 6 (High Rock + Hammerfell)

Playing a Nord in The Elder Scrolls 6 will likely still have all the same strength as a great selection for a playable warrior, but they are going to be crippled severely, at least in Hammerfell. Furthermore, the sense of family may not really be there, as fellow NPCs are likely to be severely limited due to their location. For example, in Hammerfell, Nords are entirely out of their element. Hammerfell couldn't be more different from Skyrim, as while the latter features beautiful and often snow-capped lands and mountains, Hammerfell is essentially a desert. Their natural resistances to the cold won't really help them. That didn't stop skirmishes on the Hammerfell border for many years, with Nords mostly inclined to dislike the country.

High Rock has a more unique history with Nords, and as a cloudy, more natural and neutral area, fans are more likely to see other Nords and more use of their abilities in High Rock than Hammerfell. The Wrothgarian Forest stands out as an area with Nord influence, while Bretons sometimes find themselves with Nordic ancestors. After all, many towns on High Rock's coast like Daggerfall were founded by seafaring Nords.

Regardless, many denizens of Hammerfell are more likely to be suspicious of Nord players, while the environment of the country doesn't stop their strength as warriors but does kneecap their resistance. In both High Rock and Hammerfell, players are more likely to find fellow Nords on the coasts in cities like Hegathe, Daggerfall, Northpoint, and so on. Players should also expect, from NPCs and themselves, a new side of the Nords, as Skyrim focused on their more home-y nature than their seafaring one.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development.
