A new Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim mod allows players to become arcane archers, manipulating the elements into their arrows. This mod can be downloaded from the Nexus Mods website and has been uniquely downloaded over 2,000 times at the time of writing.

Skyrim is a game with countless downloadable mods that are designed to enhance its gameplay in interesting, specific ways. Some of these mods can completely change the atmosphere of the story while others may streamline features that already exist in the base game. This mod takes aim at Skyrim’s base archery system in an attempt to create an exciting twist on this classic game.

The Muken’s Arcane Archery mod adds a new class to the game that mixes spellcasting and ranged weaponry. Once downloaded, users can either enchant a bow with the novice-level Arcane Binding enchantment, or they can buy an already enchanted bow from the Riverwood Trader or from the merchant in Winterhold.

After players obtain their Arcane Bow, they can learn conjuration spells that will allow them to summon five different kinds of elemental arrows. Players can also learn different destruction spells that can apply different sigils to the arrows. While all of the different elemental effects can be active simultaneously, only one type of sigil can be active at a time. These spells engrave themselves into the arrows, so the spell will cast originating from wherever the arrow lands.

The mod is intended to be used alongside mods that allow players to instantly cast the summon and sigil spells for arrows while their bows are still equipped. If a player doesn’t have a mod like this downloaded, they can cast the Quick Cast Preparation spell to create zero-weight potions that can be used to quickly cast the arrow enchanting spells, so this mod would still be playable. This mod also has been tested and designed to work with Skyrim VR.

This mod allows for a fun experience for both new players starting out on their first Elder Scrolls adventure and seasoned veteran of the series looking for a fresh new perspective to the game, adding a thrilling Dungeons and Dragons-esque subclass concept to any Skyrim experience.
