UPDATE: Despite the initial Xbox Store release date for The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind being April 10, Microsoft has now clarified that the game is coming to the backward compatibility program on April 17. Original story follows.

At last year's E3 2017 press conference, Microsoft announced that original Xbox backward compatibility would be coming to the Xbox One. 13 games have been added to the service so far, but at least four more are set to be added to the Xbox One digital marketplace later today, including the critically-acclaimed The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.

We've known for a couple of weeks now that Microsoft had a "big announcement" regarding original Xbox backward compatibility for its Inside Xbox presentation that is airing later tonight. However, it appears as though the surprise has been leaked thanks to Reddit user nuton, who found The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind and three other games on the Xbox Store with release dates of April 10.

Besides The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, it looks like Xbox One fans can look forward to backward compatibility for Destroy All HumansMX Unleashed, and Full Spectrum Warrior. It's possible that other original Xbox games are coming to Xbox One today as well, though if they are, they have yet to be discovered.

Original Xbox Backward Compatibility Won't Be as Big as 360 - Original Xbox

As far as pricing goes, it's probable that these new original Xbox backward compatible games will be priced similarly to the first batch of games that released six months ago. That means fans will likely be able to pick up Morrowind for the Xbox One for just $9.99, which is quite a bit cheaper than purchasing a physical Xbox copy.

Of course, if anyone already has a physical copy of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind for the original Xbox lying around, they will be able to play the game off the disc as well. Digital licenses will be honored, too.

The news that The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is coming to Xbox One should be exciting news for fans of the franchise. However, it remains to be seen if this was the "big announcement" Microsoft was promising for its Inside Xbox presentation tonight. Fans should still be sure to tune in to see if the company has anything else up its sleeve in regards to The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind and original Xbox backward compatibility.
