Kratos is perhaps one of the strongest characters in video games and is responsible for the deaths of several gods from Greek mythology in the original God of War games. Malenia is arguably the toughest boss in Elden Ring, and some players consider her to be one of the most difficult enemies in FromSoftware’s catalog. This boss fight is a two-phase encounter with one key gameplay mechanic: Malenia gains health upon every hit, even if players block the attack. Thankfully, the fight against Malenia is optional, and players do not need to face her to complete Elden Ring’s story. While Malenia and Kratos are both incredibly powerful in their respective games, some players have decided to compare the two in the hopes of finding a clear winner.
This discussion takes place on the God of War subreddit as a user named YellowDhub asks other players to share their opinions on who would win between Kratos and Malenia. It looks like many gamers think that Kratos would best Malenia in this encounter, with some referring to his victory over Sigrun in God of War as proof of his power. One user also points to the fact that Malenia is a demigod and Kratos has killed several gods in his lifetime.
It should be noted that opinions may be skewed in Kratos’ favor due to the discussion taking place on the God of War subreddit. However, a similar post was made on the Elden Ring subreddit, with users seemingly agreeing that Kratos would win this fight.
In both instances, there are hardly any players who show their support for Malenia. One fan mentions that she is weak to frost, and Kratos simply needs to repsec into that skill tree to gain the upper hand. Some players also discuss how Geralt from The Witcher games would fare against Malenia, but the opinions are far more varied for this encounter.
While Malenia may be a difficult enemy for Elden Ring’s protagonist, Kratos has fought much harder foes in his lifetime, and will probably continue to do so in future games. After all, Kratos faces Thor in the upcoming God of War Ragnarok, which has received critical acclaim ahead of its launch this week.
