Elden Ring players have been enjoying the extent of the game’s character creation, producing notable figures such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Ciri and the internet archetype meme GigaChad. FromSoftware’s custom character creators are ultimately where a lot of players find their own style of personalization, even if their intensive facial reconstructions are later concealed beneath a knight’s helmet or witch’s hat.

Players are in the middle of finding every key item, talisman, and other artifact that Elden Ring has to offer. Some armaments or items may even encourage players to reallocate their attributes and alter their play-style to meet the requirements they desire, which is crucial when Elden Ring has as much content as it does and so many unique weapons that players may decide to try. One Elden Ring player has displayed the result of such inspiration with the idea to role-play as a certain Marvel character.

Phillip J. Woodward states that they were inspired to create a Wolverine character in Elden Ring once they discovered that there are items and armaments that closely relate to the X-Men affiliate’s own unique aesthetic and abilities. For example, Wolverine’s mutant healing factor allows him to passively regenerate damaged tissue. Elden Ring compensates for this ability with regenerative talismans, incantations, and Mixed Physick tears that gradually restore the player’s HP.

Further, Woodward shows his Wolverine character equipped with Hookclaws, which scale with dexterity, cause blood loss buildup, and are equipped on both hands as a pair when two-handed. Elden Ring’s Hookclaws resemble Wolverine’s signature, elongated bone claws that are subsequently coated in indestructible adamantium along with the rest of his skeleton.

Woodward admits that their wife was the one capable of recreating Wolverine in Elden Ring’s character creator. Woodward’s Wolverine looks particularly like Hugh Jackman’s Logan, complete with chest hair and mutton chops. In particular, the character is reminiscent of Hugh Jackman’s Logan from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a satisfyingly gory and violent action game. But Woodward's entire outlook on the character makes their Wolverine comprehensive and not just cosmetic in its similarities.

Indeed, Jackman has been inseparably synonymous with Wolverine since 2000. But with Insomniac Games’ upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, it will be interesting to see a new and unique take on the character. Until then, Elden Ring players can effectively role-play as Wolverine with Woodward’s designs in mind, or venture to create their own Wolverine with a different combination of looks and items.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
